If you know anything about machining then you know Mitutoyo. The Japanese are very detailed oriented and I only buy Mitutoyo for my digital tools and for many other tools. I'm a 15 year career machinist and I just retired my 15 year old digital Mitutoyo calipers to my home garage just to refresh my work tools. All of that is to day I have been trusting the Japanese and this brand with my livelihood my entire career and they don't disappoint me. This edge finder is no exception, provided you don't wreck it yourself as can happen now and then, hence why I bought a new one.
