Performance Tool W3939 2-1/2" Heavy Duty Drill Press Vise - Securely Clamp Workpieces for Accurate Drilling

I was really pleased with this product. It fit perfectly where I wanted it on my drill press I’ve used it several times and it works great. I would buy it again for the size product price fairly reasonable quick delivery good quality I would buy it again.

It is a very basic, cheap, drill press vise. To compare this to a vise that costs many times more would be unfair. At this price point you get what you pay for. It will hold small objects in place for a drilling operation. I use it with a mini drill press (8") and it is suitable for my needs.

Basically a good tool. Couple of easily addressable issues. The small stamped plate that holds the moving jaw level was detached, along with the two screws that held it in place. Lock washers for the screws were in the package loose as well, but in order for the jaw to slide freely when that little plate is tightened down, you need a couple of small spacer washers between the bottom of the jaw and that plate. No sign of those, but that'll only be a few cents next time I'm in a hardware aisle somewhere (if I don't find a couple in my toolbox already). The vise itself is literally rough around the edges – mostly the base – and that can be handles pretty quickly with an angle grinder. For the price, it's a good value, and a perfect fit for my small, benchtop drill press. I'm sure with a dab of grease every now and then, it'll outlive me.

It's okay. It does what I want it to do, and you get what you pay for, but I'm a little disappointed. The vise is to be used to hold wood still on a drill press table. Attaching the vise to the table - easy. Holding wood still - a snap. Here's my problem. One of the interior faces of the vise had some metal burrs on it. So, when you tighten the vise, your putting gouges into your wood. To avoid that, I had to put some shims into place and that threw my whole measurement system off. I realize that burrs happen, I have no problem with that. But given that this vise is set up to hold wood, in my mind a non-negotiable QA check would be no burrs/ridges/imperfections that would mar the wood.

Fit my drill press like I wanted. It works like I need it to work haven't had any issues.

These are fantastic, but a heads-up to future buyers: The holes you see on the edges for fastening this are HUGE. Think massive lug nut huge. I needed to secure some shelf fasteners to it (long story, DYI project) and needed a combination of washers/spacers/really long screws to secure it. That said, once secure, this thing is built like a truck!

Cheap, works great on my small bench top drill press that its intended for. Don't think about it, get this small one and then use some wood spacers to keep your work with no mar. It's not meant for precise work, just to hold stuff down. If you want precision tools, you'll need to spent way more for them like KURT stuff that I use for my milling machine.

Wanted a small vise for a small workbench that wouldn't consume too much real estate. This little clamper fit the bill. As others have described it's a little rough as shipped. I used high temp grease and hit all the friction surfaces including the screw, then worked it open/closed a few times and it slicked right up. Bolted it to the bench with 1/2 inch hardware. I can personally attest that it provides enough holding power to torque a tube to 30+ ft/lbs repeatedly when held in a fixture... beyond that I cannot vouchsafe. The only thing that would improve it would be another 1/2 - 1 inch of jaw opening. I'm sure it would do a fine job on a drill press. I wouldn't call it industrial quality but it's solid as a rock and cast iron so the potential for a lifetime of use is there.

On reflection, I should've bought a large model. That's not why I give it three stars though. Screws keep coming loose, and when they do, you have to dismount it, fasten them and re-attach it to your work are. I guess a bit of glue on the screws should solve the problem.

Whats to say. It's a small drill press vice. Seems sturdy enough. Operates smoothly. Clamps firmly, and is very inexpensive. Job done.

It does the job, the con is it is expensive, I found a larger one in the market cheaper.
