What is the advantage of a plastic trumpet?

1. Incredibly light weight (low to no wrist fatigue). 2. Great for cold-weather playing (the instrument warms up quickly and doesn't get frozen as quickly). 3. Has a decent projection ability (laymen won't immediately assume that it is a plastic instrument). 4. It handles rougher treatment than a regular trumpet (you won't necessarily cry when you drop it because it doesn't dent - although, plastic can SNAP off).

Yes, the valves need to be oiled, there is a small pot of oil in the package.

Can I purchase additional mouth pieces at the time of Trumpet purchase?

As I recall you can use a standard trumpet mouthpiece.

Would you recommend this for Highschool marching band practice?

I wouldn’t recommend for marching band. I remember my metal trumpet taking a bit of a beating by the end of a marching band season.
