Highly recommend.
Great supplement. Anyone can have their iodine levels tested with a simple blood test. If you have thyroid problems or suspect you may have thyroid problems, get your iodine levels tested. You need proper iodine levels for good thyroid health. This is especially true if you live in the Goiter Belt. The goiter belt includes the Great Lakes region (Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin), Appalachian Mountains and Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington). Iodine deficiency in the soil and water supplies in these areas lead to a high incidence of goiter, an enlargement of the thyroid gland. The widespread use of iodized salt in the 1920s largely eliminated goiter. But now people think salt is the enemy. People try to eliminate salt from their diet and don't realize they're also eliminating what may be one of their only sources of iodine. If you don't eat seafood or seaweed, your iodine levels could be very low. Note that it's also possible to have too much iodine in your diet so get your levels checked.

Get iodine from organic seawood
Seawood is a good food source for iodine. I use sea salt so I don't get it from salt. I like Dr. Mercola but I'm not sure why the recommended dosage is 650mcg which is 433% of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for iodine. The recommended RDA for Iodine of The Food and Nutrition Board at the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies is 150 mcg for ages 18+, slightly higher if pregnant or lactating. I take one daily which is still more than enough.

If you don't do iodized sale, this is your way around that
I'd gotten hooked on kosher and pink salts, which unfortunately do not contain iodine like ordinary table salt does. Pretty certain I was low on it, not enjoying seaweed, kelp, etc., so I was excited to see and try this Dr Mercola branded iodine. I'm a fan of his, so I have confidence that I'm getting a good, effective supplement. I'm only doing one capsule, though, instead of the suggested two, because I don't want to go the other extreme of consuming too much. I feel a LOT more energetic and awake, since taking these, so I know I was low on iodine.

Beware of Reproductive warning
I am normally very satisfied with Mercola's product. I bought this item without realizing that there is a California warning label on it as being harmful. There is no return policy on this item.
