Espressif produces another quality development board
I always prefer getting my ESP32 dev boards directly from Espressif and I was again quite happy with this one. I primary got this for Zigbee IoT development, but now that I've also got my hands on a Thread capable device I am quite excited about that environment. I think Espressif getting these chips on the market will actually start bringing Thread devices into our homes finally.

Good for first steps in embedded programming
I bought this primarily to have a board with multiple connectivity options and that could run a RTOS. I configured ESP-IDF in VS Code and going through the examples, while also reading about FreeRTOS. For the moment no specific project in mind.

Unless you're a developer, get a better supported ESP32
I was excited to get this for some Home Assistant projects but it really isn't supported yet by anything nor do I think it will be any time soon, something I did not realize when I bought it. I'll hold on to it for the time being as I look forward to using it eventually, but if you're looking for something for similar use, I would advise finding an esp32 that's better supported.
