Review: Comprehensive yet readable and understandable, accessible to those new to meditative practice. - This book is, in my opinion, the best book on mindfulness meditation I have read, and I have read quite a few of them. This volume is actually a collection of three works by the author: Mindfulness in Plain English, The Four Foundations of Mindfulness, and Beyond Mindfulness. Basics of mindfulness meditation covered in the book include the four foundations of: mindfulness of the body, feelings, mind, and external phenomena. How to overcome the three poisons of greed, anger, and indifference. Vipassana meditation covered in this book leads to understanding the true nature of self and of phenomena. It cultivates awareness to see things as they really are. There is a three-page guide to daily practice (pp. 202-204) that outlines a daily mindfulness meditation practice that can be useful for new practitioners and those more experienced. More than just a book on mindfulness meditation, this book discusses several Buddhist concepts, including the four noble truths and the eightfold path to relieve dukkha (suffering). Review: A Deeper Dive Into Mindfulness - This book was recommended during a certification course I recently took. I initially checked it out from a local library and then realized what a great resource it is, so I bought it to make notes and keep as part of my collection.

Wisdom, clear and comprehensive.
Mindfulness in Plain English is one of my most recommended books for anyone new to Meditation or Buddhism in general. This lovely hardcover edition is wonderfully high quality paper, printing, binding, and includes two additional works: Four Foundations of Mindfulness (a commentary on the Satipatthana Sutta) and Beyond Mindfulness (exploring the Jhana states of concentration). This creates a very complete, almost start-to-finish guide to Buddhist Meditation in a single book, highly readable and very down to earth for such lofty concepts.

Great to have all three of his titles in one ...
A very accessible route to understanding vipassana meditation and building a mindfulness and meditation practice in the Buddhist tradition. This is in as plain an English as is possible, given the difficulty many have in establishing a practice. Great to have all three of his titles in one wonderful hard backed volume. More accessible than many other books on this subject though I also recommend the Heart of Buddhist Meditation by Nyanaponika Thera
