No internet/cloud required home automation and security server hub!
Absolutely love it that this is a no internet required home automation and security device. So many of the other devices talk to a cloud server to turn on/off your local device to upsell you on cloud services or to collect your data. This device just is fully local and controls everything locally. As of right now, it can control zigbee devices and has a section for automation and dashboarding. The device can run docker images and can add functionality; first one they have added is the wifi Sonoff devices interlink. The device is very compact and looks good with the white color. The front led strip reminds me of a disk drive though. It also has a speaker for alarms and notifications. All of the pairing and such buttons are on top; the USB, power and other connectivity are on the back. Setup is easy. Just connect and then go to ihost.local and it will answer. On the other hand, a raspberry pi and USB Zigbee device with Homelab would do the same thing. And, everything is open source. The rebuttal would be that this is Sonoff which makes a lot of Zigbee and other such devices and would have ease of setup to have everything tested and verified by a single entity. There is still quite a bit of development that is penciled in for more features. The current state with Zigbee and a complicated wifi devices is good and complete for most tasks; but some of the more complicated and nuanced usages might be satisfied with the docker images and extensions in the future.

Amazing local control!!
This is an amazing product! Seriously!! Kust be sure to uodate firmware first. I built a server at my house to keep my control local using home assistant, esphome, tasmota, node red, mqtt, and whatever else I feel like. This device does all of that and more! It is basically a single board computer with built in zigbee, a web interface, and a docker engine. This specific model only has 2GB of ram and the other model has 4GB. Don't get me wrong... it's got plenty of power for most things but I am making this do a ton of work. I've loaded all the docker containers I mentioned as well as a unifi controller for my wifi. The only cloud connection is when you have to link to their service to update the firmware. You can however immediately unlink once it is uodated. You also need internet access to download docker containers of course, but that's expected. You can upload it via the web interface if it doesn't have internet. Overall, this gives true local control of your smart devices. If that matters to you then this is the only option I've found to provide it. I would however opt for the 4GB ram model.

Docker!
So I really planned just to use this device with Tasmota and Home Assistant but it actually can do a lot of smart home functions all alone. It would be kind of a waste to just use it for that. I was shocked when I logged in to realize this thing can run docker containers and node-red. My plans have changed and now I'm going to install this as a standalone smart hub at a different location. The native ONVIF and RTSP support is also super cool here. You can even run the home assistant docker container on this thing if you want to. I got this thing set up and paired to devices super quickly. Overall I'm really impressed with this device and it makes for a great sub $100 smart home hub.

3 outta 5
The SONOFF iHost Smart Home Hub has some positive aspects, such as its ability to serve as a private local server for secure home automation. It's a solid option for those concerned about privacy. However, its user interface and setup process could be more user-friendly and intuitive. It took some time to get everything configured correctly. Overall, it does the job but could use improvement in user experience.

Smart home hub
It's essentially a very weak low powered server. By nature, a smart home hub is a bit annoying to set up and maintain, but compare to other smart home hubs, it's no worse than others. Overall it doesn't make life any easier or less complicated but does make synching, controlling some electronics a chore that can be done in 1 place as opposed to a ton of different places. This is definitely an effective smart home hub and comes at a nice under $100 price.

A "Quick Startup" guide would have been helpful
I consider myself somewhat tech savvy, but unpacking this device and initial setup tested my patience. A "Quick Startup" guide would have been helpful. The documentation provided was printed in "micro" font wasn't helpful. After scanning the manual QR code, I was able to setup the device. I paired a zigbee motion and door sensors. I'm still haven't familiarize myself with the device capability - this will take time. The sensors were responsive and all security breaches were captured and recorded for further review. I noticed the SONOFF firmware is 1.4.2. A quick firmware search identified an updated firmware 1.5.5 is available, but its unclear how to download and install. I installed and linked the SONOFF to the eWeLink app, but I haven't examined its benefit. I'm awarding 4 🌟. I removed 1 🌟, because a lack of a startup guide and my inability to update to the current firmware. I will issue an update after I fully examine this device.

A Secure Hub for Home Automation Control
This device prioritizes privacy by allowing for a private local server. This means that my home automation data stays within my home, providing peace of mind and enhanced security. It's reassuring to know that my personal information isn't being sent to external servers. It integrates with a wide range of devices, from smart lights to sensors, making it the central control hub for all my smart home devices. The compatibility is impressive, and I appreciate the flexibility it offers. Another advantage is the local data storage capability. With 2GB of DDR4 memory, I have enough space to store data locally. This not only enhances performance but also ensures that my automation routines run smoothly, even without an internet connection.

It's ok
I thought I would like this more then my smart things. However I don't. It works, but doesn't have as much functionality. It's ok. If you are getting started in smart homes, then this is great. More of an advanced smart home user? Maybe get a nicer hub.

Ihost Smart Home security
Ihost is easy to use when it comes to add devices both Zigbee and Tasmota. It has some issues regarding scenes regarding time delay in Away mode. But I think future updates will address this. Easy to install add-on via docker and then the filebrowser add-on to gain access to system files.
