Bristan Orta Bathroom Taps, Chrome Basin Mixer tap

Arrived on time and well packaged with instructions. This is a quality tap and is easy to fit; the pop up waste was a bonus and works well. I had to remove the flow control disc to get sufficient hot water from my gravity fed tank but once done the mixer works well. The tap is very easy to keep clean and looks good. Highly recommended.

Previously, I only bought Grohe taps. They're solid and good. Took a chance and bought this Bristan tap and was amazed. Solid, heavy, beautifully sculptured tap. Water flow is smooth. Fitting is easy. Price is excellent. Bought another one. Superb quality tap that I will buy again as a preference. The click-push pop-up drain is a massive added bonus but as with any of these these click-pop-up-drains, it's the supplied gasket below the basin that is always the problem where leaks occur. idn't even bother to try the supplied Bristan seal. Nowadays, I don't bother with the under-basin seals provided, I simply use a £1.29 "basin-mate" from T00l$tation, which ALWAYS is zero-leak!

With the restrictor removed from the outlet, this is probably one of the best mixer taps available to use with low pressure/gravity fed water systems. It delivers a decent flow rate, plus the valve operation and the overall look and finish are very good. The unit I received was supplied with flexible connectors, so I had to buy copper pipe tails seperately.

Superb tap, very impressed, just like many other reviewers here. It's great looking and very easy to keep clean. One reviewer mentioned a slow flow rate, which is the same thing I experienced - I have low pressure (gravity) hot and high pressure (mains) water feeds. It appears the cold water prevented any hot coming through at all. Previous taps didn't have this problem, and I very nearly sent it back as a result. Anyway, I put in a call to the excellent Bristan helpline, and together we worked out that the nozzle has a built-in 6 ltr/minute flow limiter, which was clearly responsible for this problem, and after a quick search, the representative found an alternative nozzle from a different tap which he sent out immediately and which arrived the next day. Fitted in seconds, and worked perfectly. Top marks. However, I also realised that you can remove the pressure limiter by taking apart the nozzle and removing the small orange rubber diaphragm from inside the plastic filter housing. You'll need to pick out the plastic mesh using a small pin before doing this, remove the diaphragm, and then put the mesh back and finally reassembling the nozzle.

Very nice tap for the money, installed this morning. These things are always fiddly to install and it’s been a while since I did any plumbing so the restrictor in the nozzle caught me out for a while. Our bathroom sink is fed from a tank in the loft so the pressure is on the low side. This tap has a nozzle which can be unscrewed and there is an orange coloured restrictor which needs to be removed if the flow is low. The mesh at the back needs to be flicked out and the orange part removed before refitting the mesh and putting the nozzle back. I mention this for any people new to putting a tap in.

I replaced some old taps and can't recommend this too much. It is easy to set the tap to wholly hot or cold and anything in between. Better still you can control the flow from full on to a slow drip. The tap moves evenly and the control is completely intuitive. I found this much better than a leading German make I have in the kitchen. The tap looks quite good and is no problem to clean. Installation is reasonably easy as it uses standard fittings. Overall - very happy!
