I've been looking at new home building alternatives for some time, and the re-use of shipping containers intrigued me greatly. I had several 'grey' areas and I'm happy to say that all these were covered in this book. Areas such as effective insulation, management of heat and cooling - even solar panel installation is here! The format is methodical, giving a true step-by-step process to guide through what is a completely new approach to home building to me. Of course I should mention that details about costings are also provided with advice on how planning and building decisions impact the budget. Great read, and even better to finally see a fully detailed process in one handy, enjoyable companion.

To be honest I’m not sure what i expected really, but was left feeling a bit flat after reading through, being mechanically/engineering myself, i learnt nothing that I hadn’t thought of myself.

WRITTEN FOR AMERICAN MARKET
Does not say anywhere in the description that this book is for the American market. Unless you are planning to build a shipping container home in America this book is useless.Why is that not in the title?

A must for beginners in Shipping Container Homes
Great floor plans with very useful costing information. Installation is described in a simple and easy to understand way. This book also explains how to heat and cool container homes.

Superficial, an easy general read.
This book provides pointers to remind you what to do, and is fine for a jack of all trades to complete a conversion via their own skills, it is not a recipe book for nut and bolt progress for the clinically inept.
