Gen42 Games Pillbug Pocket Expansion Game

As the Hive instruction booklet recommends, it's best to learn the game without the expansion pieces that come with Hive Pocket (the Mosquito and Ladybird). But once you've reached the stage where you're playing confidently with the standard pieces, it's best to add all three expansions at the same time - Mosquito, Ladybird and Pillbug.The Pillbug works as a beast of a defensive piece, being able to pick up and move anything it's next to - either shifting your Queen Bee to safety or throwing attacking pieces away. A well-placed Pillbug becomes something you have to really think about neutralising before going for a final attack. It definitely adds a lot to games so buy it ready for when you feel it's time to add the expansions.

This is exactly as expected. I haven't played the game with this add on yet as it is a birthday present for my son, but he is convinced that these will be the best pieces of the set, and will worth the add on. We love the gameplay of Hive, and there is something so special about the dominio-like feel of the pieces. Very tactile and heavy.

Playing with the pillbug expansion adds a new dimension to the game. This makes the game more interesting if you have got tired of the original. In my opinion it does not make the game any more fun but gives it a different feel. I would recommend if you a fan of the original and want to switch it up a bit.

The one occasional frustration with Hive is the inability to move your opponents pieces.The pill pug gives you this power - or the power to move your own piece.Really shakes up the game. We don't use it everytime, but it's a great addition

But it's the only place that sells the woodlouse (I guess), just got to buy it!

I should have read the description more carefully as these tiles are tiny and so cannot be used with the rest of the Hive set which comes in its own pouch. That said, they are of the same high quality as the normal pieces so would recommend buying from this seller as they did arrive very quickly and well packaged.

You will buy it, and you will moan at the price.It is a needed expansion, and the quality is good, just the price is a little painful.Get it, be annoyed at it, then enjoy it.
