The stiffness is just right for serious scrubbing.
I bought a lighter brush for the kitchen sink or shower area and this 'stiffer' brush for doing car mats or other tough items. The brissles are just right for such work, without the risk of accidently damaging something (like some stiffer brushes might do). I'd say they got the stiffness just right.
