Is the fluid safe for old shellac records from the 1940s?

G2 Fluid is formulated for use on PVC based vinyl records--7 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch. Although we have cleaned some shellac and plastic 78s without harm, we do not recommend G2 Fluid for that use. How many vinyls can i clean before i need to clean the pad?

The short answer is when the pad is dirty. The number of records depends on how dirty they are. We are sticklers so we clean the pad every 10 to 20 LP records, using the method in the instruction booklet. "Apply a few drops of laundry detergent on the pad fabric and squeeze the pad in distilled water. (Soft tap works,as well.) Rinse thoroughly then squeeze dry in a clean towel. Air dry overnight."
