It’s a nice trash can. We just moved and don’t have a ton of space so I liked that this one is fairly narrow while still maintaining a decent capacity. The look is really nice and I’m glad I went with the silver. It takes 4 AA batteries. I originally thought of buying a rechargeable one but 1) it was wider, and 2) if the charging block breaks, that’s it. I don’t anticipate to change the batteries often, however, so I’m ok with it. The sneak works really well. The lid stays open for 5 seconds and then closes. 5 seconds is a good amount of time. Overall, it’s a good trash can. Perfect for us that don't have a specific spot for one.

This trash can is so cool! I don’t even have to touch it—it just opens by itself like magic when I wave my hand! It makes me feel like a wizard. The top goes up super fast and then closes all quiet, like a ninja. Plus, it’s really big, so I can throw lots of stuff away without it getting full too fast. It’s made of shiny silver metal, and it looks so fancy in the kitchen. It doesn’t get all messy with fingerprints, and it never smells bad because the lid closes tight. I used to not like throwing trash away, but now it’s fun! I just wave, and boom—it opens! This is the best trash can ever! It makes cleaning up easy, and I don’t even have to touch gross stuff. If you want to feel like a superhero with a super cool trash can, you should definitely get this one. I love it so much!

I purchased this trash can for my kitchen because it matched my recycling can next to it. I sometimes have dirty hands so I thought this EKO trash can would be good. WRONG!! There is a problem with this garbage can that the company is aware of and did nothing to repair the issue The motorized lid is all controlled from the lid itself, and thus. the batteries are in the lid itself. Not a good idea!! The battery compartment in the lid has a small piece of black plastic holding the batteries in! Hello, did anyone ever hear of Issac Newton? Gravity people!! When you touch the lid or activate the motor it loosens the battery cover, and guess what happens next? Right, the battery cover falls into the garbage and you may not realize it until the batteries finally get loose and also fall into the garbage! You may not know it. Like me, until the motor no longer works. It’s at that time that you realize that both the battery cover and all the batteries are gone and was just picked up by the garbage company! Of course you wouldn’t know it until the can’t open the lid!!! So I did research and found a number for EKO in China. They finally found a woman who can speak English. I explained to her what my problem was and she said , yes other customers had the same problem. Well duh, if customers are having a problem why don’t you correct it? No answer from her. She responded to my inquiry by saying someone will check it out and get back to me!! If you bet that no one would respond to me you win. Of course no one got back to me and worse yet, I had the product for 32 days and they refused to help me!! Two days over and they wouldn’t listen to me. So now what? I have a non responsive company in China and Amazon not help with a defective product two days over the 30 day time frame. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND FORGET THIS PRODUCT! You will wind up like me with an expensive trash can with no lid. UPDATE: It has now been 3 months and they never return your calls! So now I have this expensive trash can without any lid! I’ve spoken to people at EKO USA, and they lie to you. They say: “Oh, we’ve heard about that problem and someone will get back to you shortly!” Shortly is 3 months with no call or email. Hey, we’re talking about a tiny piece of plastic that holds the batteries in place and they can’t even send that to me? If you purchase this can and have a problem, FORGET IT! EKO USA doesn’t have the courtesy to respond to you!! EKO USA- NO FORGET IT AND LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!

This was a major improvement over another touchless lid opening trash can we had. I loved this can for going on 9 months now. But just the last week it has started to malfunction. The lid won't open at all, or it opens partially and immediately closes. I'm hoping there is some kind of reset or remedy for this since I really want to love this can. It has fresh batteries, so that is not the issue. Update: I contacted Amazon customer service for advice on getting this lid to work and they gave me a full refund, so I am happy about that. I still have a lid that malfunctions, but I didn't have to pay for it. Not sure if I'll order another one like this. I can't find a way to contact the manufacturer to find out if there is a solution other than ordering a new one. I don't see a lot of other customers on here that have my same problem, so maybe the issue isn't a common one. Another update. The refund promised by Amazon has never come after asking about it twice. I have also contacted the manufacturer. After talking to 2 different customer service people, and being told this model number doesn't exist, and that maybe I didn't put the batteries in right, they had me email another "department." I got an email back that this model is so new they can't replace the lid and that my email will be sent to the "main office" and it could take 6 to 8 weeks to see if they can do anything for my malfunctioning product that I paid over $100 for. I'm deducting stars as I speak, this is junk. UPDATE! I never heard back from the manufacturer, however I received a package with a new lid in it. Then about a week later I received a check from the manufacturer for the full purchase price plus tax, so I have changed my one star rating to a 5 star. The new lid is working perfectly so far. This company was not great on communication but they came through and stood behind their product, I can't ask more than that. So I would now recommend this trash can.

I finally upgraded from my pedestal trash can to this one, which I had my eye on for a while. It came with batteries for the motor so it can open when motion activated which I thought was very convenient. Sometimes companies sell you a product and then are like ‘Surprise! You need batteries!’ But for the price, the company included batteries. Very happy they did. The lid opens every time, you just need to make sure you are motioning above the trash can. It can get some getting used to, but it is convenient nonetheless. It has a button that allows you to keep the lid open when you are putting more than one thing of trash in. You press it to keep it open, and then press it to return it back to normal motion activated-sensing. It is very quit when opening & closing. I’ve had no issues with the motor. The overall sturdiness of the trashcan is good. It is well made, not cheap what so ever. It holds a decent amount of trash and it has a lid “securer” so to speak to the trash bag doesn’t slip off the rim and dip down (which is so flipping annoying on normal trash cans). The one and only complaint I have about this trashcan is that once it is open, I can smell the trash in the next room. Every time you open it you get smacked in the face with whatever has been thrown in your trash can. However when it is shut, you don't smell anything. I thought, “Ah-ha! It has a built in de-odorizer so I can just buy the filters and the problem will be solved!” -wrong. FYI , the filters for the deodorizer are not included and ate sold for $9.99 for a 3 pack separately). They don’t do anything. Yes, when it is shut you can’t smell anything but once you open it, the “smells” from the trashcan can linger for a little bit- so keep that in mind when purchasing. I don’t find this to be a deal breaker though. Overall, a great purchase and worth your money.

I had a more expensive brand which failed after 11 years. I planned to replace it with the same brand, but found it to be very expensive when compared to the EKO, so I took a chance. This can came well packaged in a heavy duty box, and is compact and the stainless and black coloring is very attractive. The unit functions as advertised. The motion sensor works well and is very quiet when operating. The unit sits solidly on the floor with no wobble. I like that it will fit right against the wall and still open fully. The opening to the bin liner is smaller than my old one, but seems sufficient to get trash into the liner. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I never thought I would buy a self opening & this pricey of a garbage can. I can’t believe how much I love this piece. I’m getting back surgery in January & due to the nerve damage down the legs & in feet have been having trouble using the step functions on a regular can. I was constantly tripping so actually bought this for more of a safety issue for me. I also need surgery on my elbow for nerve damage in my hand (so much fun getting old lol) and with this I can use both hands to hold any garbage & no longer dropping items around the old can. Having said that, now that I have this can I would buy it even if I wasn’t having these issues. It’s beautiful & holds so much more garbage than my old round one. This model comes with 12 of the EKO white garbage bags but as others have stated the Costco ones fit perfectly. I haven’t used the deodorant compartment yet, I’ll have to see how much odor the garbage gives off since this one holds so much more than our old one. I’ve only had it a few days so will update if there are any issues. It is pricey but it’s worth every penny. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you EKO for this quality product. Update February 2025: Still working perfectly. Because this trash can holds so much more garbage than my old round one I did find more odor about 3/4 full but only noticed when I opened the can. Closed it does seem to hold the odor in. I decided to try the odor control pads which definitely help so I don’t have to change the garbage bag until it’s full. You don’t really need them but I do like them as I’m sensitive to smells. I am also using the EKO trash bags provided as I wanted to see how they performed and they are a strong bag. There is no stretch to them (as with the Costco bags) but they fit like a glove and have yet to get a rip in any of them. Once I’m out of my costco bags I will be buying the EKO trash bags as they are stronger than the costco ones. When taking the garbage bag out there is no ‘suction’ as what would happen with my old round can and I would struggle pulling the bag out. These bags come out very easily which doesn’t seem like a big deal to some but with my back issues not having to struggle with getting the bag out is a big plus for me. Quality product all the way around. Very, very satisfied with these purchases and highly recommend. Update February 2026: Still working perfectly and still looks brand new. Quality, Quality product. Highly recommend EKO!!!
