Solar Fountain for Bird Bath, Solar Panel Kit Outdoor Solar Water Pump with 4ft Tubing for Hummingbird Bath, Small Pond and Fish Tank

I read all the reviews before I purchased this, and in spite of the complaints about random shadows ceasing the fountain activity, I bought it anyway. The reviews are true and correct, any slight interference with the sun (passing clouds, overcast skies, my own shadow, etc.) does cause the pump to halt immediately. This solar panel does not store the suns power - not even a smidge - so if that's what you need, this is not the product for you. However, for my purposes, this is perfect. My goal was to create a hummingbird fountain and provide a daily water source for my hummers and butterflies. I don't need the pump to run at night, that would just cause faster evaporation. Even when the pump is not running, there is still a water source for my friends, as I have it set up to keep a small bowl full. When the sun shines again, the pump resumes it's purpose of recycling the water and keeps it moving. I can't really speak to longevity yet because I've only had this for about a week now and so far it has not disappointed. If it does, I'll come back and update. The pump arrived on time and was neatly packaged. All the parts were there and in perfect condition. Comes with a little instruction manual too and was very easy to assemble. I included a measuring tape with my pictures to show the panel size, it is pretty small, but it does the job as intended. I do wish the cord was longer because I would love to have mounted the panel on my roof - once the sun sets past my awning my little fountain is done for the day. The clear hose has a curve to it from being in the package which resulted in the fountain not shooting straight up, it wants to maintain the curve resulting in a lop-sided spray. To resolve this, I found a small piece of red PVC laying around and ran the clear hose up through it to keep it pointed straight up - worked perfect. I saw a review or two that said the tips don't fit the hose but after a bit of persuasive wiggling the tip went on and worked as advertised. In fact the tips worked so well that they sprayed higher than I needed for this project so I did a bit of modifying to my hose and PVC contraption until I got the spray height I wanted. Again, keep in mind that the height of the spray is directly related to the strength of the sun. Strong sun = strong spray. And I can switch the tips whenever I want. Btw, there is no ON-OFF switch on this, but not to worry, once the water at the bottom of the planter (or pond or whatever you use) gets too low, the pump automatically shuts off so that it doesn't burn itself out. I like that a lot. So, I guess it's all about what you will be using it for. I am super happy with mine and plan to create another fountain for my rock garden. I will be buying again.

I am very happy with the way this solar fountain pumps works. This is my Amazon review for the Biling Solar Fountain for Bird Bath, Solar Panel Kit Outdoor Solar Water Pump with 4ft Tubing for Hummingbird Bath, Small Pond and Fish Tank. I wanted a pump that worked right away, that worked off sunlight but not necessarily the sun needing to beam directly on it for it to function properly. This solar fountain pump works very well off direct sunlight and continues to do good with intermittent sunlight or slightly overcast with a few passing clouds. It has been spraying water high for more than four hours straight. The birds love it. It is very easy to set up. The pump itself is dry-run protected in that if the water falls too low, the pump will shut off. When sunlight is very strong the water fountain reaches 16, 18 inches and higher through the fountain head attachment. I have only used this product today because it is brand new. It was delivered yesterday. I searched for a solar water fountain that would work well and last a long time - meaning years. I can say it works well, and we shall see how long it lasts, but for now it gets 5 stars from me because it works as advertised. I have an older different solar water fountain I love that I ordered in early 2024, and it still lights up and pumps out water. I hope this new pump will work well for years. Thanks, Amazon.

Edit 10/2025: Biling company contacted me in response to my review offering a full refund. This was a bait-and-switch tactic. When I replied yes, they instead changed their tune and asked me for my home address so they could send me a replacement unit (which I don't want because their product is garbage). Amazon specifically prohibits this kind of messaging to customers so I reported them. I also replied to Biling saying no, I want the full refund they offered. They have not responded since. Extremely shady behavior! Original review: I bought this specifically because it has a sensor to prevent it from running when the water runs low/dry. Unfortunately Biling's main brag for this pump is a failure. Within 3 months the sensor no longer functions reliably. A single time I let the water run out and found the pump still running while dry. Then a few weeks later I had the pump fully submerged and it refused to run, with the sensor indicating it was dry. So the sensor is broken and/or unreliable meaning I never know whether or not the pump will work. I'd have been better off buying a cheaper pump without the malfunctioning sensor.

Updated review: Their customer support finally contacted me after a few weeks. After assuring them I had gone through all troubleshooting steps, they promptly sent me a replacement. Here's hoping that it lasts longer. Otherwise, this is a handy solar-powered pump for a little fountain which works well for the price (when it works). It has a good flow and works great on moderately sunny to very sunny days. Don't expect it to work on dark days. It's not designed to do so as it has no battery backup. If that's important, look for a different product. Old Review: It stopped working after 7 months. Have attempted to contact seller's support several times with no response. Product page stated 1 year warranty. Not sure how that works without response from seller.

Update: I am buying again because after 3 years the pump has finally quit. But 3 years is a long time for a small price. It does only work with direct sunlight, however, in Texas, that's most of the time. I do wish the pump was heavier, I have to weigh it down with rocks to keep it under the water, but I don't really mind that for the pleasure it brings me. I just hooked it up yesterday and by golly I love it already. It comes with the tubing, which others don't. Buyer beware. I cut a hole on the bottom side of a 2 liter soda bottle for the pump to fit in and put the tubing through the top of the bottle and put the fountain head on . Then I added some small stones in the bottom of the bottle for the pump to sit on and the bottle to be weighed down. Added water to a big washtub and connected the solar panel and voila! Spent $0 on some elaborate stuff and just used what I had lying around. Here in Texas it's nothard to find some sun. Well see if the birds take to it. So far, I give this thing massive thumbs up!

This fountain worked great at first but now we are in summer where I am at and the pump stopped working. Power is still going to it but its official dead. I've checked the wiring, filter, solar placement but still nothing.

This solar-powered pump works only when the sun is out, but that's alright for me since I want to keep my electric bill down. Easy to set up and use right away. Not extreme amount of water pressure. Can hear trickling of water. Make sure you have enough water in the tub or wherever you put it. It says to put under water about 4 inches. And you may have to stabilize the pump with rocks or whatever you have. It won't stay up well.

When it does work, it works great. The pump itself is strong for its size and the included heads shoot water an impressive distance. The run-dry protection also works great. I was looking forward to the portability of the solar pump so I wouldn't have to be either close to power or run an extension cord. That and zero-cost operation. That said, I was expecting a continuum of functionality based on ambient brightness from the product description. That is to say, I wasn't expecting it to run full-blast all the time unless getting full unobscured sunlight, but I was expecting it to run at least a little bit in dimmer and/or overcast light conditions. The 3rd picture even says "On cloudy days, the fountain is weak. In direct sunlight, the fountain sprays powerfully." Not. At. All. Unless this panel gets full sun, it won't run at all. No variation on pump volume or anything, it's either on full or not doing anything and it'll only be on full if placed in direct full sun. Definitely not what I had in mind for this product, so I returned this and just got a corded pump instead. Much happier with my new corded pump. I REALLY wanted to like this solar pump, but when it doesn't work as advertised and won't work at all at night, you really can't get much enjoyment out of it.
