Nice book
Interesting read.

Good starting point
Really useful textbook for a basic outline of the renewable technologies out there with interesting examples given throughout the book which can be further looked into. Despite this being an older edition (2004), the information was still pretty relevant and applicable.

Good solid book - a valuable guide.
One of my favourite books on renewable energy. A thorough account of every renewable energy form out there, is uses, its benefits and its draw backs. WEll reserached, well written, if anything a little too technical for me in some places but i am a relative newcomer to the subject. Everything is well illustrated and explained. A very valuable resource to have on your desk. Besides being a bit technical for me in some cases, it is now a little old (2004 i think) and the renewable enery industry is changing all the time. If a new version came out i would buy it again. Immediately.

Great Condition
Bought the book second hand from Amazon. I have to say i was very surprised at it's condition, It was practically brand new when it arrived and all for under £12! I would highly recommend the book, great for anyone completing a Masters in Energy Sustainability.

Weak packaging
This book is a large format tome of some 655 pages and so quite heavy. It was packaged in a large card envelope which didn't protect it sufficiently as the spine "broke" (see photo). This defect was not mentioned in the details given when I bought it.

Very informative book
This book is used as a study material at the Open University in Energy for a sustainable future course (T206). The boook won't tell you how to fit a solar panel or a wind turbine on your roof nor how to connect your panels to the battery but it will tell you about various renewable energy sources and its pros and cons. The book looks at the energy needs on local, national and international scale, not on individuals scale. Each chapter also has a large list of references for further information. There is a lot of calculations present so, you'll be able for example to calculate the area of solar panels required for your needs or prove that off shore wind turbines generate more electricity than on shore ones. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in renewable energy.

Great reference text in support of my masters in Renewable ...
Great reference text in support of my masters in Renewable Energy Systems that was recommended reading. Go for the latest edition so that it is current as possible as data and technologies change fast.

Sustainable energy for a cleaner future
Very good book, extensive but not overly complicated. Book gives a great overview of the many sustainable energy options that could reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses and eliminate toxicity problems caused by fossil fuel technology.. It is NOT a book about the consequences of climate change. Readers who do not believe climate change is a threat could read this book to see how sustainable energy can produce clean energy, sometimes at a cost less than current fossil fuel methods. Boyle presents information, which includes the pros and cons of many different sustainable energy possibilities, and how a particular option can be linked to a specific topographic region to produce the best outcome. He provides both the economic (that is the cost at which different techniques can produce electricity) as well as field reports about renewable energy production sites that are currently supplying energy.

Excellent introduction - even for after graduated engineers
This book clarifies much concepts concerning Renewable Energy. It is filled with lots of statistical and economical charts, concepts explanation, schemas and drawings about the technology. It does not show formulas on how to dimension, but a lot of results from studies are revealed with detailed account on what was found in numbers. Even for an engineering bachelor degree, its worth, because it covers a lot of concept from all the different kinds of Energy.
