Hang this over your work bench and attach drills, hammers, lights, etc.. There is definitely a minimum weight that can be used easily. For example: I was able to attach my drill with a big battery on it and adjust the spring tension to where I could pull the drill down and it would stay at the level I left it, then it will retract when I pushed it back up and stay there with no threat of falling. This is a split-housing design and it doesn't look like there is a seal so I am not sure how long the internals are going to last in a dusty environment. Overall though, I'm fairly pleased with it.

Not really a balancer, more a retractor (at least based on my limited knowledge). It's possible I'm not using it correctly, but it came with no instructions. If you need a retractor, this probably would work for you, but I was looking for a balancer (when you let go of a balancer, if the spring tension is set correctly, it should stay still when let go of).

Does the job and length is adjustable, the size is a bit big and knob on the back is a bit loose
