A excellent inline reel
These reels have a very smooth drag that allows you to whip larger game fish and the freefall system works fine...with heavier lure you must palm the reel as the lure falls or you may find yourself with a birds nest. If you can catch these on sale, you won't regret your purchase.

Smooth
Nice reel. Button clicks in to let line out and you don't have to hold it in like some other inlines i have. Drop speed is adjustable with a small knob. No complaints

Better design than the betty for one reason
13 fishing reels are plagued with the issue of line getting between the spool and the reel tangling everything up... One of the issues with the Black Betty reel was that you had to unscrew this nut with frozen hands in order to fix the problem. This reel comes with a simple push button that releases the spool from the reel. Hopefully I don't accidentally press it on the water! but another gain is that the release button remains attached to the spool whereas the knob on the Black Betty came completely off and seems to want to fall down an ice fishing hole at any chance it can... I don't know yet whether this reel solves the tangle issue in the first place but at least it will be easier to fix with the new quick release feature

Good deal
Great reel for the price, really like the front psh trigger that you can either hold or it locks open. Silky smooth retrieval and dragTrigger, depending on how you hold your rod, it's a little far too reach. If they would release a trigger with a little more angle bringing it closer to center I would happily give this reel 5 stars

Poor drag by design; works OK for small trout/panfish
These inline reels have a long way to go before serious fisherman start using them. The handle and cranking gears seem smooth enough for the price point and the idea of the inline reel has its merits for many applications and species of fish. The 2.7:1 gear ration is acceptable for bringing in big fish but you do run the risk of slack line if you can't keep up with a fish turning direction and swimming towards you. I had a 34" Lake Trout and several smaller ones do this. Normally my spinning reels help me keep up but I was not able to keep up on the inline reel. Where this particular reel (and nearly all brands/models on the market) fail is in the drag system. The drag is terrible. Just awful. Super jumpy and the star drag may auto-loosen when set at moderate or light drag levels. Use your money on a cheap spinning reel.

Nice Reel - Not For Me
I tried to like this reel. I was never able to find my groove and just fish with it. It's just not for me.That being said... There is nothing wrong with this reel. It's me and what I'm used to. I let a couple of my friends try it. One of them was able to use it without any problems. I let him have it. He uses it often. That's why it still gets five stars.

Seems of good quality
I'm pretty stoked so far with this inline reel, I've paired it with a 28 inch Tickle Stick, 8 pound Suffix Ice Braid with 6 pound fluorocarbon leader. I've already tried it in open water and like how it performed with a 1/2 oz jig and swim-bait, looking forward to freeze up. First time using an inline, should save on some of my better more expensive spinning reels from the elements of winter too. If you used trolling reels before with steel or lead core than this is fairly similar so its quite easy to manage and control.

No drag clicking
The media could not be loaded. I tested my friend’s Black Betty Freefall and I was amazed by it’s smooth trigger. It fell fast and conveniently down the hole with only 1 micro hook on the line. I cant afford the Black Betty so I invested on this one (Descent)… definitely not as smooth as the Black Betty. Most of the reel is made out of plastic, which explain the cheap price. The reel isn’t smooth at all, keeps kicking each turn. And I need to add a small sinker to make it fall “smoothly”. It also does not have drag clicking sound, which the click sound acts as a cursor for the size of the fish for me.Regardless, price wise I think this inline is worth it. Great for panfish and maybe walleyes. I added some 50 yards brain line 5lbs test, and I didn't need backing line.

Inexpensive and effective
Simple little reel. Works great once I figured it all out. Excellent price and smooth action. I used it icefishing this year and pulled up at least 6 monster 22” plus hake. Very pleased.
