With the Van Gogh , Dolittle , and other Baby programs under their belts, the tots who follow Julie Aigner-Clark's Baby Einstein series will sidle up to Baby Newton expecting a similar exploration of building blocks to brilliance, but this time there's a wrinkle or two. Animation makes its first appearance, and parents steeped in keep-it-simple culture may object to the springy "I Know My Shapes" song, a departure from classical-only video predecessors. Otherwise, the tried-and-true genius launchers of titles past pop up anew--Vivaldi floats through each of five shape segments, and clever puppet shows play quickly and infrequently enough to captivate the under-2 crowd. Plus, talk about well rounded: Clark covers the bases, showing off triangular sails drifting toward the sunset one second and geometric patterns the next. Play it for a departure from skill-building standbys like pop-up books and plastic sorters for ages 1 to 3. --Tammy La Gorce Parents Choice recommendation, Baby Newton Discovering Shapes DVD is hosted by colorful and playful puppets who take your child on a field trip through a shape-filled world of sights, motion and sound. Review: My grandson loves it!! - My grandson loves it!! Review: great video - Why people are so critical about this new format of the video? It's still fun, educational and entertaining. My son actually loved it and was glued to the TV. If those changes came to lack of an educational part or something- I would complain. Puppets are as cute as ever, colours are bright and kids love it. What is wrong with the animation? Kids should be used to anything that can help them learn. I would highly recommend to buy this DVD. Thank you, Baby Einstein.

Baby Einsteins DVD
I love all the Baby Einsteins DVDs. I don't expect my kids to become genius just by watching them. But they are very attractive and little kids love them. I have almost all the baby Einsteins DVDs at home. We choose one a day and watch it one time and it gives me 20 minutes rest now and then. I greatly recommend their products.

Love it!!
My grand daughter sat and watched this dvd for about fifteen minutes before she was ready to do something else but the fact that she is 4 and half months that was a long time. I let her play with her toys and finished watching this DVD and I just love the simple simplicity of this DVD it sparks imgination and learning even if a baby doesn't know it. That truly is the key to Baby Einstein products making teaching fun and simple. Bottom line this is another great product from a company that I have grown to love.

Different, but definately worth it
The first time me and my one year old daughter sat down to watch this, I was skeptical. Disney had changed from the format of all previous Baby Einstein videos. Gone were the kids; not as many puppets. I thought to myself, there is no way this video is as good as the others. I was wrong. My daughter loves this video. Now that she is learning to talk, she specifically asks for this video. She loves the crayons, and the lion. Often immitating the lion by making her own little roar. The crayon animation is computer generated, so it looks a bit out of place compared to the other videos. But, the change seems to work well with kids, even if us parents don't find it nearly as entertaining (which is why I give it 5 stars; my little girl loves this video!)

Sometimes different IS better
While my sons and I love the Baby Einstein series, this one is definately a favorite. I think that is so because it is different from the rest and there is a catchy tune that my three year old can actually sing along with. Sometimes when he is playing by himself, I hear him singing this song..."I love my shapes, oh yes I do......"). He has learned his shapes and his colors quite easily from this video which means it has done its job, and very well I might add. I would much rather him what this video every other day than perhaps the violent Spiderman movies.

Love this Video but it's changed
When my boys had Baby Newton 10 years ago the songs were a bit more up beat and jazzy. That is what I was expecting and looking forward to for my grandson who loves to dance. The slowed the tempo and what I used to enjoy watching with my kiddos is no longer available :(

My 9month old LOVES this DVD
The clown is so cute and the puppet skits make my 9 month old laugh, he can sit and watch this 3 times before he gets bored. He loves it and I think its great and educational, this is one of my favorite baby einsteins, it hold his attention and is bright and colorful.

Ages 1 and up

Bad song
I decided to buy this video because a friend owned it. I was disappointed to discover that the version i purchased (the newer one) had a different song and a much more digital appproach to it. Not nearly as entertaining. Furthermore, the song is hard to learn (especially the French version) as the lyrics don't seem to quite fit. Bad move.
