As a DIYer, I’ve been really impressed with the XTool D7 diagnostic scanner. It offers a great balance of capability and affordability, and it’s helped me confidently diagnose and fix a range of vehicle issues without needing a trip to the shop. After about a year of use, I did run into an issue where the scanner stopped communicating with any vehicle, which was frustrating. However, XTool’s customer support was excellent—they responded quickly and replaced the unit under their 2-year warranty with no hassle. Aside from that one experience, the tool has performed flawlessly. For the price, it delivers strong functionality and reliability, and I’d absolutely recommend it to other DIYers looking for a dependable diagnostic scanner.

Excellent bidirectional scan tool at an affordable price. Very easy to use and with the latest software update, special functions are now incorporated within each module for easy navigation. I performed an electronic brake release for rear brake pad replacement without issues. Very fast to scan the entire vehicle for codes. The tool is well made and uses Android 10 OS. You can also use it as a tablet with the built-in browser to search the Internet when troubleshooting problems without having to use a phone or a laptop. I also installed a glass screen protector available on Amazon so now I don't have to worry about scratching the screen while working on a car. Customer service is very responsive in responding to emails. The only thing I wish the D7 had is the topology feature similar to the D8. Hopefully this will be implemented in a future software update.

Perfect for DIY repairs and saves unnecessary trips to shop. Especially like that it actuates the ABS system. Works great on older cars . I have used this on three different vehicles and applications. Unit would not work to reset Battery on 2019 F150. 2008 Ford Focus- Emissions leak- Broken Canister mount for vent valve Programed New Ignition Key but not the Key Fob Remote (Had to use key on off learn program). 2019 Ford F150 -New Battery Reset-New battery due to age.( DID NOT WORK -ended up using key brake reset method. ) 2001 Ram 1500- High Purge Valve Current Code. Defective Purge valve. 2009 Suburban- left rear ABS sensor, TPMS sensors, Engine Temp Sensor I have Alltel units that can read data but they do not come close to this units bi directional control.

I’ve been using the D7BT on a few different vehicles now to knock out some diagnostics, and I’m honestly impressed. What really stands out for me is how easy it makes the documentation process—being able to generate a report and email it directly from the tablet is a huge time-saver. I also love that it plays nice with cheap USB endoscopes; having that larger screen to view what’s going on inside an engine or transmission makes a world of difference compared to squinting at a phone screen. On top of the basic diagnostics, I’ve successfully used it to modify the gear ratio settings on my Ford, which was a huge win. Beyond the tool itself, the customer support is absolutely incredible—they’ve been a huge help whenever I've had a question. For the price, this thing is a total no-brainer. If you do your own wrenching, it’s a solid addition to your toolbox.

Worked fine the first couple times I used it. Now it won’t connect to my car. If it is in the key on engine off when I plug it in my car won’t even start. So some thing is drastically wrong with the scanner. If I plug it in with the car running it won’t connect. But it does light up my traction control light and trouble light. And a bunch of other things like my air conditioning quit working. So I sent an email a couple days ago, no response. Nice case though. Totally useless!!👎

Great tool for the part time do it your-your-selfer. The saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply to this scanner. It surpasses its price point. I'm happy with my purchase. I think it is well constructed and covers many different manufacturers vehicles, too many actually for me personally. It would probably run faster if I didnt load all the different vehicles and was more selective as far as the vehicles I actually have or will be dealing with from time to time. Got a "wrench" light on after replacing intake and valve cover gaskets with reduced power and poor idle. This scanner took me right to the "area" of the issue and was able to find the cause (TB communication wire shorted on bracket). The tool itself is small to me but my previous experience was with the larger Autel scanner. Also I found it easier to use (navigate) with a stylus.

For the price this is a great scanner and bi-directional is the only way to go nowadays. But it only fixed 50% of my suspension adjustment. Meaning I could raise the car but I couldn't get it to lower back down to normal height. So now it's stuck way high.
