Brilliant Monocular
Excellent. Light weight and hides neatly in a pocket. So easy to focus. Thia Monocular will help greatly with departure biards at stations and airports as they seem to put them so high up.

Minox scope, very useful everyday gadget.
Good useful scope, well made and very clear, small enough to carry around anytime in bag or pocket. even on it's included neck strap.

Very good quality construction, very clear optics but not quite powerful enough for my purpose
I was torn, with this review, as to whether it's correct to rate the item negatively based on my needs rather than its general performance. However, I didn't really find it as useful as I'd hoped for scoping out far away stuff but perhaps this is my fault for buying a x6 monocular. To clarify, I bought the monocular to look at things which are far away, which I'd like to see in more detail. I understand that some folk like to use monoculars to look at close-by items in much more detail, e.g. looking at flowers or insects by your feet, without having to bend down. However, I'd hoped to use this to check out details of architecture on buildings I was close to or better identify birds at a distance. Two factors made this an issue:First, the magnification is a little underpowered for what I'd hoped. Whilst the optics are very good quality for the price, testing the optic out of my window, marvelling at how clearly I could read a sign, I realised I could read it just by eye. Likewise, scoping out distant birds a friend with better eyesight than I could spot more details than I with the 6x monocular. Like I have said above though, perhaps this is simply my fault for buying a 6x monocular.Second, the focus mechanism is twitchy. I've got fairly small and dextrous fingers that usually cope well with fiddly electronics etc, however the focus is controlled by a sliding switch (that I assume rotates a barrel inside the monocular). It's possible with precise to get a solid focus but I honestly felt a throw back to tuning in an old telly, going back and forward, 'losing signal' until you get the good spot.Positively, the construction of the item is good and solid, though it's very slippery due to the metal case. This was solved by wrapping a few elastic bands around the barrel of the monocular, though that ruined the look a little. I've noticed a few people ask if you can remove the neck strap, which you can (you press the small plastic disks inside the lanyard slots, using a pin push, pen etc and then you can slide the posts out).I'd say this is probably good for someone who wants to view presentations etc across a long hall etc or possibly for close up viewing of insects / plants, as mentioned above, though I have no idea of the minimum focus on this item as that wasn't my intended use.I should finish by saying, I bought this as it was cheaper than a Docter Monocular that I'd initially wanted. Having now bought the Docter to replace it, the Docter fits my needs much better. The focus mechanism (twisting a rear eye-piece) is much less twitchy / problematic, and the 8x magnification is much more useable. I suspect the field of view is less due to the large square objective lens on the Minox relative to the small round one on the Docter, but it hasn't been much of an issue in practise - occasionally I've struggled to pick up a small item when glassing a large field of view (e.g. trying to find a seal poking out of open water).

Simply the best travel scope / spy optic in the price and size range.
I own several monoculars, and this one is by far my favorite - It's a useful magnification range, and it's very fast and easy to use - and a sleek design on top of that. The eye relief at 13mm isn't fantastic, but I can still see ALMOST the entire field with my glasses on - which puts it in much better territory than many other monoculars I've used, especially those of the turmon/docter/miniscope design, which are the only that seem to be comparable in size. The original turmon/docter may be the only high quality monocular in this size range, but good luck using that with glasses AT ALL, as eye relief is virtually nonexistent - and the Steiner Miniscope is still larger. The comparable 6x18 zeiss is much larger and is no more sealed against the elements, at twice the price... This is probably the smallest monocular you can find that has a good balance of utility and ease of use.I'd stay away from the 8x - 6x is definitely the sweet spot for this design, as the 8x is darker and harder to hold stable, especially with a single hand. The 6x16 combo leaves an exit pupil that isn't too hard to line up, and it's easy to hold stable while still magnifying to a useful extent. The "rectangular" view is a good balance of shaving off some weight/bulk while still presenting a very very usable image.Focus is super smooth, fast, and very easy - although it can take a delicate touch and a bit of practice to zero in that last bit of focus. The lanyard is a bit goofy in my opinion, but it's easy enough to remove - I keep this wrapped in a very thin and small microfiber for protection, and just toss it in a pocket.Seems to handle challenging lighting situations very well, and has a very good image quality for the price - You will have to spend twice as much to get higher quality, it's definitely the point where diminishing returns kick in.Literally my ONLY gripe is that it isn't nitrogen purged or similar, but that's something you will not find in this size and price point - You'd have to step up to a much larger or much more expensive monocular to get close to the size of this. The only fogproof monocular I have is the Opticron Trailfinder, which also uses a sliding focus design - it's considerably larger, and much much more difficult to focus. The only sealed monocular I can think of that would be near this size would be the Leica - Arguably the best monocular, period - unbeatable image quality and ALSO fogpoof. It is also larger than this model. This is a great monocular with a great heritage, and it's often easy to find for lower than the advertised price. Highly recommended.

Good optics in a compact package
The 6 power by 16 mm lens combination provides a good balance between compact size, image magnification, and image brightness. The optics are more than satisfactory for the price, providing almost non-existent color fringing and field distortion. The carry pouch is adequate only, and I may go to a leather store for materials to custom-make my own case. The monocular has a sliding focusing mechanism. However, the adjustments are coarse, even with minor movement of the slider. So it's tricky, but possible, to obtain a clear focus. But when you do so, the image is very nice, considering the size of the optics.
