Hi it is IP54 rated so protects against limited water splashing from any direction. OK for using outside with pressure washer or cutting hedges when grass a little damp.I wouldn't use it as a long term connection for a pond pump - definitely not submerged - as water will get in. There are higher IP rated connections that would do the job. If you Google "IP rating" you can see was Ingress Protection levels are and can then identify a more suited product?

No, you wire it in yourself in the same way as you would any new plug. I've wired a standard width extension lead from the house to one side of it and then I have a car battery charger plugged into it exiting from the green clip side. I leave it on the front windscreen of the car and it has proved to be water proof - a great, well built product.
