This is a quick project that you can finish in a couple of sittings. I sewed the long version in stretch velvet. The waist is faced and sits just below the natural waist. I found the sizing on the large size, although I see others complain that the pattern is small. I did hand tack the waist facing down all around, as the stretch velvet would never stay inside without tacking. A top-stitched hem is also impossible with stretch velvet so I zig-zagged the raw edge and hand stitched the hem. Nice looking skirt that looks good with a loose blouse or sweater.

I’ve recently got into sewing clothes and this was my first ever pattern. Made the ALine skirt and it went pretty well. Lessons I learned were- Don’t think oh I’m a size 10 so I’ll go for that! Measure yourself and go from their chart because size doesn’t correlate with shop bought sizes. Trace over the pattern and keep your original one in tact so you can use it again. And if like me you’ve never read a pattern before, there are videos and pages galore showing you how to read a pattern and what all the terms mean. It’s mind boggling at first (I didn’t know anything!) but gets so much easier. I’m hooked :)

Made what should have been the correct size but it came up about half a size too small. Also not a pattern suitable for lengthening more than a couple of inches. Good clear instructions.

An easy pattern, instructions are easy to follow. Nothing fancy but a nice skirt when finished.
