Differently to many other enthusiasts, John Goldberger does not simply collect period watches for the speculative pleasure - something that was certainly not uncommon in the years when he began frequenting the "watch world" - but rather due to his wish to gather together exceptional pieces, wether they be enhanced by a renowned signature, by the item's individual history, by its unusual style, or perhaps by outstanding technical features. This passion in fact drives him to patiently seek out excellently preserved examples - ones not even to be found in the Omega museum - most of which belong to John Goldberger's private collection. Mr. Goldberger's hand is not only responsible for the technical descriptions in the book, but also for the images: photography is in fact another of his great passions and has seen him as the editor and photographer behind a stimulating book of travel images... Giampiero Negretti. Estabilished in 1848 in La-Chaux-de-Fonds by Louis Brandt and later moved to Bienne (its current premises) in 1880, Omega became the company it is today only at the beginning of the last century. Indeed, prior to this the Louis Brandt products were known through the various make names that over the years were displayed on the watch faces - Jura, Patria, Helvetia and Labrador werev among these... Review: Great book on omega design and for me watch design - This a great book! Wonderfull foto's of most legendary omega watches like the seamaster 300, speedmasters, and the 40's and 50's "chronometre" models. Including shots of the movements. Pictures have great definition, contrast etc. I use books like these as inspiration for watch designing at Pellikaan timing. As a minus there is not much description of the various models. For me that is not needed, but for some it may be a thing. Review: The best Omega book written PERIOD - This is a great book, fantastic pictures, and details, I really enjoyed the book. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Once you read this book, you will know everything there is to know about Omega watches, such as: I never knew that Omega is now owned by the Swatch Watch company. The author John Goldberger has done a great job. This goes with my favorite watch books.

Omega
Could do with bit more text, but great reference book. Perhaps the Omega Sportswatches book they recently published is a bit better in terms of material, but I would recommend it all enthusiasts.

Right on the nail.
Good book, great pictures. The best book on Omega I have read. alot of dosh, but worth every penny. He's got the history good. I gotta give it 5 out of 5. If you wear an Omega or want to know the story, you need to buy this one. I was sad to read Omega is owned by Swatch. I will keep that under me hat.

What are the other revierwers taking?
This is a book with a lot of pretty pictures of Omega watches. There is virtually no text at all -- just two pages in large print at the front. How other reviewers can claim "He's got the history good" or "once you have read this you will know everything there is to know about Omega watches" is a total mystery. Could they possibly be the author in disguise?

Overpriced photo Album!!
Can't believe the other reviews I read before deciding to buy this book! Totally misleading. If you're looking for dialogue, history, descriptions and information on Omega watches, then leave well alone - This book contains no substance whatsoever. If, on the other hand you're looking for 250 pages of nice photographs of Omega watches...

Dissapointment.
Dissapointment. Very high cost by just pictures. I think the watch time magazine, have more technical information that this book by a considerably low price.
