ABRSM Specimen Aural Tests (from 2011) - Grades 1-3 (with CD)

I bought this book to support my 9 yr old grand-daughter in her practise sessions. She loved the style of questions and liked the voice, which is important. There was sufficient time/space left between each item to allow her to give the answers and was always delighted when she got them right. The whole concept is professional, clear, helpful and well worth trying so that the candidate for an exam is well prepared.

Was excellent for helping my daughter through her grade 1 violin exam . It was great that it came with the cd as well, although I play the piano and the aural tests are conducted through the piano , I found it very handy that I have a choice. So it is not necessary for the parent to know any music at all to use this book. Would fully recommend for helping any music student through the aural part of the exams.

This book provides good practice for the student preparing for music exams. The slight drawback is that the pieces are a bit tricky for a parent. I have a good music background including piano but had to practice the pieces in advance to play them fluidly for my Grandson. We have used the YouTube videos with success.

This is an excellent resource. The teacher does not have to play the aural tests on the piano because they are all on the CDs enclosed. This enables students to play them at home and rehearse them. However, the score is provided in case the teacher wishes to play the aural tests on the piano. It is thorough and effective preparation for the instrumental exam aural tests.

Brilliant book which gives loads of practice for the often dreaded aural tests! Fear not - just buy it and get stuck in to all the practice tests this book offers. If you are disciplined and commit to regular practice, you will be mega prepared for your exam day. It worked for me!

Worth it

Excellent preparation. It really helps to have the examiner say the rubric as well as having all the answers. There are plenty of practice exercises and the CD is invaluable. Worth every penny.

This product is the new syllabus aural material that I need for training my students for the ABRSM music exams. The book is laid out well, and includes the rubric text for each of the test sections - this is very helpful for getting students used to the kind of statements examiners will make in the exam room. It helps to standardize situational questions for the exam candidates, so that they may not get so put off trying to figure out a foreign accent plus strange requests.
