My 6 years old loves this book and read it by herself. It's a nice story to educate small kids about the body.

Well worth a read and family discussion
I think this was an interesting book to read with kids (4,7&8). They understood the story and we had lots discussions around secrets and manipulation by other people. It hasn't stuck with them as much as the messages in the other books.. But would be a good one to revisit.

Very effective book for promoting discussion and awareness of such a sensitive subject, without scaring the child.
Very good book, allowing parents to discuss a very sensitive subject with their children in a safe way. I like the fact that the book has discussion points at the back, and questions to ask the children, such as "Why did little Alfred feel he couldn't tell his Mum?". I read it to my boys (7 and 5), separately, then a few weeks later, together, and they both understand about secrets that make you uncomfortable should never be kept. A friend was in the house recently, as I was reading this book to the boys, and afterwards she told me that it was a wonderful thing to discuss with them at such a young age. At their age, she was abused in a similar way to Alfred in this book, and she didn't have the language to talk about it with her parents, so kept quiet. That, alone, makes me very happy with this book, and I'd recommend it to other parents who want to broach the subject with their children.

Every child must read.
This is a brilliant book to help children understand what is appropriate and inappropriate touch. My son loves it and I think you fully understands what is okay and what isn’t okay. Perhaps best suited to boys

Beautifully and sensitively written story for children about a difficult subject
This book is well written and provides pertinent points of sexual abuse in a sensitive way. It is a very difficult subject to explain to a child but this book illustrates this beautifully and provides parents with a tool to expand and discuss the topic without scaring a child. I am very impressed and would recommend the book to other parents without reservation.I think it would be suitable for most children up to the age of 12 years.

So glad I bought this
I have a 4 1/2 year old daughter. She enjoys this book and regularly asks for it and wants me to read through the prompt questions at the end each time. I am amazed at how much she understands and empathises with the little boy. It's all about giving her the confidence to say no and tell if something doesn't feel right. I so hope she never needs to.

A Treasure for Body Safety
This book is magnificent and lays a very realistic and accurate foundation for the practices of child predators. Grooming behavior and threats are portrayed in this book in a way that is very child-friendly and understandable. The way that the author ends the story and offers support and validation for the main character is wonderful. It shows a child that no secret needs to be kept, and that parents can help and will not suffer from the predator's threats. I highly recommend this book, I think this is a very valuable tool for any parent, teacher, etc. who is interested in adding another layer of body safety to their child's life.
