Spectra SP-USB Stereo Headset with In-Line Volume Control

These are used daily for audio transcription, are comfortable and produce a clear sound. The ear sponge wears over time - this is to be expected and can be replaced very cheaply. They do the job, what more can you say.

I do audio transcription for a living and have bought four sets of these in the past three years. My last set only lasted four months... just absolutely stopped working. (Usually, they get crackly and intermittent audio after a while). With the last pair, I wrote to the seller suggesting that maybe this wasn't long enough and asked for a replacement, but was told something along the lines of they would only replace within three months, due to the heavy use of such an item. Rather disappointed as if they are for "heavy use", you think they would be made in such a way as to "take the pace". I mean, I use my television every day and my last one is still going strong after 14 years!

A much better transcription headset, for hearing difficult dictations much clearer. However, does hurt the ears after only using for 30 minutes at a time. Better when the headset is above the head, rather than underneath the chin.

After wasting money on multiple uncomfortable headsets for transcription, these are a great price and the best I've ever used. So light and comfortable, they hang down instead of a tight, hard, painful band on your head, and clearer than all the others. I'll always use these! (Just need to get some work now) 🤔

These fall off if I try to wear them over my head. They're unwieldy if I wear them under my chin. The sound quality is okay, but I find that I need to push them into my ear to and they're actually too big for that. Even if I sit them over my hear, they start to hurt after an hour. So I switched to a decent pair of regular in-ear phones after a month of using them every day. Since then, I've found that lots of inaudibles and indiscernibles are suddenly much clearer than they were using these. I can't recommend them.

I've just gone through a transcript I did yesterday with my "music" headphones (which are lovely - for music!), and picked up so much more on these - managed to fill in the final gaps in the transcript! I've only used this headset once, but so far, they are excellent. They feel very light and comfortable to wear, and I find I'm having to turn DOWN the volume (in spades!), instead of turning it up to catch those mutterings and overspeakings - so the clarity's great! So far, so good!

Didn't work, had to return them. Plus, headset not adjustable so doesn't fit small heads. Bad design.

I'm very pleased with this headset - the sound quality is excellent and the volume can be controlled easily by convenient control. The supplier couldn't have been more helpful. Initially I couldn't get any sound even though the driver had installed successfully. I rang the supplier and he took the trouble to talk me through how to solve the problem. I'd give this supplier five stars plus and the headset itself a definite five stars.

Best headset for transcription out there. Better than Wordslinger, which has too much bass, and any others. I've tried them all in this price range. The only cons are some people find their ears ache after prolonged use. I had this issue once but not anymore for some reason. Also, buy the genuine ECS headset ear cushions, not generic ones that are too thin. Other con is the headset is on the fragile side; if you are the type who leaves headset lying on floor and occasionally steps on it, you cannot do that with this one. Take good care of it and it will give you crystal clear speaking audio for a long time.

I've had just about every sort of headphones I could try for my transcription job. I work from home and I was starting to think that I was going to have to figure out how to rig my computer's sound card to make all my files louder. When I ordered these I didn't have to have my main speaker volume turned up to its highest setting PLUS the transcription software speaker turned up to its highest setting just to barely hear what the secondary speakers in the room were saying. It was as if it was a miracle. I'm not saying they will change your life, well, maybe I am. It depends on what you've been using in the past. I had tried in ear ear buds, even, because I figured the closer they were to my ear drums the better I'd be able to hear what they were saying in the recording. These sit softly just outside your ear canal but somehow project the sound perfectly. I wish I could describe it better. I also wish I had found these earlier, they would have saved me months of headaches. The feedback from the other headsets and earbuds I had been using caused almost daily migraines, these are heaven sent. The volume button on the cable is a bit heavy and tends to pull on the set a bit, I just make sure that I have it clipped to something close enough to my shoulder that the cable weight due to the volume control doesn't bother me too much. After a while it got to where I didn't notice it at all.
