R/Brush Series 8404 Size 0

This is a very good brush! As long as you take care of it and use a bruah soap the tip stays beautiful and pin point accurate. Here is a some work I have done with it.

Love this brush, it's what I use for the most detailed parts of my miniatures, holds a good amount of paint in the body and if cleaned regularly the tip is pointed

I have painted minis for many many years and I wish I had invested in brushes like this before. The difference is stark. This brush keeps an incredibly fine point and seems to hold more paint so you can paint for longer before applying more paint to it. My painting has stepped up a significant notch and my details are far sharper. You have to look after it. I clean it in my water pot every five minutes or so and use 'The Masters' brush cleaner which you can get on Amazon and lasts for years. Also, only dip paint to about a third of the hairs. And never use speed paints or metallic with it as they will wick up into the ferrule when you rinse it, and dry in the ferrule and cause the hairs to splay. I've used it for weeks and it is still in perfect condition - see photo. Thoroughly recommended.

Great brush high quality

Having used cheaper non-synthetic brushes for miniature painting, the 8404 from Raphael is a completely different beast. Immediately, I noticed I had better brush control and the point would keep it's shape through multiple strokes. I'm not sure if I have just been unlucky with other brushes but this is the first instance where I have not had to spend ages reshaping the brush after use. Just give it a rinse and use some brush cleaner and it goes right back to a tapered point. Can't recommend enough, it's worth the investment.

Bought one of these for tabletop mini painting after seeing a recommendation on YouTube. Brush is fantastic, keeps its point well, doesn't split when in use, holds a nice amount of paint. I really enjoy using it over the other brushes I have from The Army Painter which have taken a back seat. Worth the money in my opinion.

Really Great!

I can't really recommend this product because there were a couple of issues with the one I received. I did A LOT of research before buying this brush, and read a lot of great reviews from different sources so decided it was the best one for me. Unfortunately the brush arrived ever so slightly bent, I figured it was a result of the very basic packaging it came in, but it wasn't a huge deal to me so I carried on. Unfortunately the first time I used the brush it became apparent almost immediately there was an issue. Within a few seconds there were no less than four stray hairs which looked like there were trying to escape from the middle of the brush. As you can see from the picture, it's not like they've been caught and bent back by the protective sleeve, they're sort of kinked from the middle of the ferrule. The bristles lined up to a nice point when I loaded it with paint, but as soon as I started using it the bristles popped out. The bristles had a nice spring to them and held a good amount of paint, but ultimately the quality control let it down. Not really what I was expecting, especially when this brand was recommended, especially over W&N, for their excellent quality control. Returned for refund.

It's a good brush. Definitely a staple size for miniatures. The fact that they are imported and made with real hair means that it takes forever for you to get your brush in the mail and i feel like charged twice what the brush is worth. It really comes down to the painter on a choice on a brush like this. The brush is great holding paint at the tip and is easy enough to clean. Using it with any extra pigments paints and inks is not recommended. Using this brush on washes or metallic will dull the bristles and make it harder to clean and gum it up. Experience painters wont have any issues with this brush, i have found an equiv and adequate replacement for this brush at michaels that i use for the harsh paints and inks. Cleans up easily enough with proper care

My absolute favorite brush for miniatures (Warhammer).

I have a W&N s7 and this 8404, size 0 and another 8404 size 5/0. The 8404 is my most used brush, it handles perfectly and always comes back to a perfect point. I use brush cleaner after every use, and store it tip down for drying (but of course in its protective cover for the bristles). I use this for painting Warhammer, have never used it for anything else. I also like the orange end it makes it easy to find it amongst my other brushes when I'm painting, as I use a few other sizes for various other uses
