The Ultimate Alphabet Hardcover – October 1, 2015

I bought this book in its original format around the time it came out, and I loved it then. At some point in the following years, I realized it had completely disappeared, probably in one move or another. I finally decided to buy another copy.Imagine my surprise when the box that came to my door was much larger than I expected it to be, and seemed to weigh a ton. I tried to remember as I opened it what else I had ordered without remembering. But no! This version not only comes with the original book, but also with a separate book to be used as a guide/cheat sheet - an EXCELLENT addition, because the pictures are so packed with various items (everything on each successive page starts with the next letter of the alphabet). The author is absolutely ingenious, and the artwork is impressive. And believe me, you will learn about things (animals, plants, geology, geography, and - really I can't think of anything that ISN'T in there) you never knew existed.This book deserves a good long (long, long, long) perusal. And then a few more. I can't recommend it highly enough to do it justice.

I don’t know what to say except dig in. This book was given to me in childhood and I spent HOURS pouring over each page with the unabridged dictionary and a notebook at my side.It’s immersive and just a beautifully done tome.Little kids can enjoy it but it doesn’t ever become obsolete as we age.Lifetime fan, lost my copy so I rebought it and I’m beyond thrilled!

You need he original book with the workbook to know which was da are you resent in each picture, and since the contest has been over since 1986 his set of books are the best not way to check your work. If you lay the game you need the answers!

What a beautiful book! I'm not quite sure how I found this, but I have the game Scrutineyes, which is my favorite and includes only a few of these pictures. When I saw the book, I couldn't believe there was a picture for every letter. It is also accompanied by a second book, the annotated version which lists every picture and what they are.Beautiful artwork and hours of viewing enjoyment.

This book is amazing for its ability to improve ones vocabulary and visually improve learning. There is also a great Ipad app that uses images from the book.

Mike Wilks' Ultimate Alphabet is the most fabulous distraction ever! Scanning and scouring the pages with purpose can result in hours lost! And a smile when items are marked off the list!

This set of books is amazing. I love the talent of Mike Wilks. We found him through the game Scrutineyes years ago, which featured his artwork as part of an object-finding game. My only gripe is I wish the format of these books was larger so that you could enjoy the detail of the art better. The Scrutineyes panels were much larger, which was nice, especially for those with older eyes. Overall, though, I highly recommend these amazing pieces of art!
