Great Shower Hardwater Filter
Purchased 2 for our main shower - Overhead Waterfall and the handheld shower - Easy install, once in place if they match your pipeworks finish they blend in surprisingly well - look a bit retro even. Easy to replace the filters when the time comes. Been in for nearly six months - and swapped out the replaceable Filter cartridges a few times and definately say they make a huge difference to our area's very hard water. The proof is when you compare the used filter cart to a new one - the used is dull brown/ beige with all the impurities compared to the new cart ! Excellent product - well done Sparkpod !

Provides fine filtration and should remove chlorine etc..
Took quite a while to arrive over a month so not sure where it came from but it got here eventually. Comes in a nice padded box and has a set of rubber washers with filter mesh and a small reel of PTFE tape, if needed. It feels well made with good quality chrome finish and a transparent bowl for the filter. I will be interested to see what this traps as other filters around the house have trapped bits of sand which I guess is from the water filter beds, we do sometimes get a chlorine smell from the water so it will be interesting to see how it impacts on that. The Q&A gives a link for replacement filter element but that seems to be an import from America and is at a ridiculous price so we will see if that changes anytime soon, at the price shown it would be cheaper to by a complete replacement filter! I mounted the unit at the end of the shower pipe next to the wall as when full of water it will be a fair weight, it could also have gone on the other end of the flexible pipe under the shower bar but is more out of the way up high. There does not seem to be any impact on flow on my mains pressure shower. Not sure what effect it will have on the shower experience I will need a bit of time to evaluate that. Dead easy to fit but I did need a spanner to tighten the top nut as it dripped a bit, half a turn did the trick. It seems that they come in a range of finishes black, grey, nickel etc. I like the clear bowl though as you can see the state off the filter. Interesting to see people also fitting them to sink taps.

No way this thing can filter anything
Feel free to get one and you’ll know why I leave this comment. Structurally, there is no way water will pass through the filter, that means water just go straight out unfiltered. Another piece of plastic added to the land fill.

No difference in water quality
Water content varies across the country, but in my case I was not able to measure any difference between the water from my shower before and after fitting the Sparkpod (measured approx 100ppm both times). My water is not particularly hard, so you may see better results if you're starting from a higher baseline, though based on my results, I cannot confirm that. So given it failed me on it's main purpose, I would not recommend this to anyone with comparable water, however, there are still some good points. Installation was simple, with detailed instructions. The filter comes pre-installed in the pod, which means you can get going quickly. I found there was almost no restriction in flow for me, which was surprising. The unit, when installed, looks pretty attractive to me. Some improvements could be made here though. The housing is plastic for the most part, with some metal parts to connect to the shower outlet piping. This is a good, solid connection, however the other end is threaded plastic, which is a bit of a liability. Once installed it's probably not going to be an issue, however a lot of care is required during installation, as it's certainly a weak point. The filter holder is also a bit problematic, as the o-ring is very easy to trap during re-assembly. Generally this is a well made product which is offered at a reasonable price. It's an easy way to add filtration to your shower, but did not provide any measurable benefit to water with reasonably low contamination. If you live in a very hard water area you may fare better, for anyone else, I cannot personally recommend.

One of the best shower filters I have used
Living in a harder water area, I already know the benefits of filtering tap water but had limited filtering on the shower (I have used some others in the past but am always looking for something better). Seeing the new SparkPod Ultra range, I decided to try it as a replacement for the standard SparkPod style filters. The filter comes with a single refill and is enough to last 3-4 months. Replacements are available although on Amazon for around half the price of the complete unit, so not the cheapest filters around. The actual filter body is shiny chrome with a transparent elongated dome that houses the filter and screws into the main body. The body is screwed in in-line between the shower and the shower head – I have used it with a standard electric shower but with the body being fairly large, it isn't the easiest to fit. On power showers etc. The filter can fit nearer to the shower head, so this is likely to make it easier to fit. Fitting the filter into the body is simple as it pushes in with an O-ring to stop water seeping through without being filtered. The end result is a strong seal and fully filtered water. There are a couple of important things for a shower filter – the first is that it doesn't impede the water flow level too much and the other is that the filtered water makes the showering more pleasant with softened water (that also stops limescale from building up on the shower head). With this filter it works well for both. I have noticed no reduction in water flow through and the water really is softer and makes my hair feel cleaner and softer. This is one of the best filters I have used and will be one that I carry on using for as long as I can get replacement filter elements. Not the cheapest but one of the best. A little side note - the item label of each type of filter is incorrect. The listing title has the correct version in it. Mine if chrome and transparent but is labelled radiant rainbow.

Noticeably softer and cleaner water. Well designed. Easy fitting. Good for electric showers
We've had a few shower heads that have built in filters and they always leave your skin feeling much softer and itch free. The only disadvantage is that it limits what type of shower head you can have. So after finding a good shape/sized shower head i wasn't keen to try a filter again. We live in an area that does have soft water but the Mrs' skin is much more sensitive than mine, so we decided to try an inline filter instead so we get the best of both worlds. I originally ordered one of these at the beginning of December but seeing a 2 month delivery time i quickly cancelled and forgot about it. This one appeared just before christmas and and would arrive at the beginning of january so we decided to get it. Appearance. Beautiful, simply beautiful. I decided on the Egyptian Gold for the novelty. There's nothing gold in our bathroom anymore but if this produxt was made to a good standard gold would definitely confirm it. The whole thing is plastic with agold chrome but looking at it, it wouldn't be out of place in a much wealthier home than our humble one. Fitting. Easy peasy. The instructions are wonderfully clear. There's no scrolling through pages to find the correct language. Each step/section has all languages listed as seperate paragraphs so it's very easy to follow. They also include plumbers tape and a couple of screens to make sure you get a really good fit. The main fitting is hexagonal so you can always take a spanner (with cloth round it so it doesn't scratch thr fitting) to get a good tight fit. The instructions call for the filter to be added just before the shower head. So if you have an american style shower with the pipe coming out the wall at the top to the shower head you can attach it. I don't. I have an electric shower so i just fitted it directly under the unit so it doesn't get knocked by clumsy sleeper people washing. It sits in perfectly with a bit less than 10mm clearance. I then just hooked up the shower hose to the bottom of that andnit works a treat. Replacement filters. The whole casing unscrews to reveal the filter inside and there are replacements available. Each filter is meant to last at least 1-2 months for family use or 2-3 if less people are using it. You have 1 filter pre installed in the box, no spares. A quick check of the brand shop and the filters are available, but not the cheapest. They do work very well though. Performance. Because we use an electric shower our water pressure is not going to blow you away. I tested this on the cold setting 1st and there was a slight resduction in pressure. Nothing huge maybe 10% if that. When using on hot there was no noticeable difference. The big difference was after you showered. This time of year even my skin gets dry and itchy and i can confirm my skin was much better, even after the 1st use. The Mrs is yet to try but i suspect she will be very happy. Negatives. The only negative is that this is entirely made of plastic, so i suspect the fittings may have issues in the future especially with repeated hot/cold temp changes from use. Also they only include 1 filter in the box. Although they work well this is not the best value, and replacement filters will have you questioning the value also. This is an upmarket looking item, that works well. Recommended. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful.

Overall, this is a solid, effective shower filter
Installation was quick and straightforward, with no tools required. the polished chrome finish looks great in the shower. The biggest difference I noticed was in water quality. The chlorine smell is almost completely gone, and my hair feels noticeably softer and less dry after showers. My skin also feels less irritated, especially during longer, hot showers. If you live in an area with hard or heavily treated water, this filter definitely makes a difference. Water pressure stayed strong, which I really appreciate, as some filters tend to reduce flow. The cartridge seems well-made, and so far performance has been consistent. Overall, this is a solid, effective shower filter that delivers on softer hair and skin with minimal downsides. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking to improve your shower water quality without sacrificing pressure.

The water doesn't have that chlorine smell and it doesn't leave a that calcium residue on the door. I was pleased with this one.

Shower filter functioning well so far…
The water is *very* hard where we live in AZ and we don’t currently have a whole home softening system, so we absolutely must use manual filters like this in our showers. I ordered this filter in conjunction with the shower head made by the same company – both in gold (plastic). Installation was a breeze, took just a few minutes to setup (they include some plumbers tape and 2 extra washers in the box, if needed) – we angled the filter to the side as the best position for our shower’s configuration. As with all filters of this sort, after installation when turning on the water for the first time, expect to see some black charcoal purged at first until the water runs clear. We always let new filters like this run with cool to tepid water for 3-5 minutes, to be sure it’s good to go. My first shower using it and the water is definitely filtered and soft…no detectable chlorine odors and no residue/sediment on the shower head afterwards, and no major hard water spots on the shower glass (I let it dry vs. using my squeegee to see how the water dried down). By no fault of this or other filters we’ve used, we naturally expect to change it out every 3 months (max). At its current price point we will be purchasing replacement filters; until we tire of this style along with its coordinating shower head, or it breaks down on us in some way – whichever comes first. At this point in time, we’re pleased with the setup and how it’s functioning for us!

Good
At first I was angry because I couldn't get it to stop leaking at the rotating nut attached to the main pipe, no matter how tight. I managed to get it down to a very light trickle. The water pressure out of the shower head was strong, and there was a very noticeable difference in the feel and smell of the water. So, after initially being angry about the leak, I'm very pleased at this point and took one of the nicest showers ever.
