Rockburn LP2 Style Guitar Package (Include 10 W Amp, Gig Bag, Strings, Strap, Lead and Picks) - Black

This package is great value for money if you're just starting out as a beginner. Guitar: Imitation of the Fender Les Paul with the same basic layout -- two humbucker pickups and a toggle switch that lets you isolate the neck pickup, bridge pickup, or combine both. The four knobs let you control the volume and tone for either pickup. I'm no audiophile so I can't tell you how the tone compares to other guitars, but there's no hissing or humming on the output. There is a tune-o-matic bridge to make it easy to correct the intonation and action -- which you will need to do because the intonation is awful out of the box. After buying a set of good quality strings and spending fifteen minutes with a screwdriver and a tuner, the guitar is now quite playable. Amp: Volume, Gain, a single Tone knob, and also a button to switch from Clean and Distortion. The nicest thing about this amp is that it is only about 10cm deep, so it takes up hardly any room. Instrument lead: Straight at one end and right-angled at the other. The lead itself is quite stiff and thin. Gig bag: Basically puts handles on your guitar to let you carry it from A to B, but offers very little protection other than keeping the dust off. Guitar Strap: Cheap adjustable strap with thin fake leather ends. The holes are quite large and the ends are somewhat pliable and stretchy, so there's a good chance that it will come off the guitar if you don't take care with it. Spare Strings: Intonation problems -- you're better off buying some better ones. Picks: Three basic middle-of-the-road celluloid picks -- I got two black and one pastel blue. I bought a Dunlop variety pack of picks instead to find one that I can get on with. In conclusion, the accessories are absolutely entry-level and will be the first things that you need to replace, but altogether you have the bare minimum of what you need to get started.

This arrived today. Honestly, the picture doesn't do the colour justice - it's gorgeous! It says standard size, but it feels a little smaller, which for me is a good thing - I've got average arms but tiny hands, so this feels really comfortable. The weight on the guitar is nice - a lot of reviews said it was heavy, but compared to some other electric guitars I've handled, it was quite light. The case, if you can call it that, is not sufficient. I will be getting a hard case at a later date to fit this guitar, and the strap isn't great either, but the extra strings and picks were fine. I would personally recommend changing out the strings for something you prefer, (I like Dunlop Heavy Core) but that's completely a personal preference. The amp is the dinkiest thing I've ever seen, and for the size, has pretty respectable sound. The only thing that drags this package down is the case, but if you're prepared to replace the case with something more solid, you really can't go wrong with this.

Love it, Love it, Love it. I used to play guitar many years ago and decided to buy myself a reasonable kit and begin to learn again. I wasn't expecting much, it's wasn't exactly expensive but I was suprised with the quality. The guitar itself is worth the price of the whole kit. The amp is good enough to practice with and small enough to tuck in a corner when not in use. As per another buyers advice, I did buy another strap, which also came with three better quality plectrums, but the ones in the kit would be adequate. I showed the guitar to a friend who had been playing for years and after pushing out a few tunes for 30 minutes he decided that the sound and action was as good as his own guitar, which cost 3 times the price. All-in-all, extremely happy. Just nee my fingers to start getting hard at the ends again so I can practice for longer than 30 minutes without pain lol

This is great value. I haven't played the guitar since I was a teenager [which is quite a long time ago!] The guitar is great - looks and sounds good. The amp is fine - lots of volume for the size and plenty of different tones and distortion available. Smoke on the water eat your heart out! The strings and bits and bobs are ok. The strap came off so I quickly bought another - watch out for this but the case fits and the picks work - to be honest I'd go back to the first point, this is great value for money.

My low rating isn't for the guitar at all, in fact all of the stars can be attributed to the guitar, it's the extras that bring the package down. The picks are plain beige, yes very rock; the case is laughable, it didn't even fit my guitar and is a cheap plastic cover that can't possibly protect your guitar from anything but the mildest of breezes; the amp is small, not bigger than a couple of hardback books side by side; you get spare strings but they're hardly expensive; the strap is useless, throw it away immediately and get something worthwhile otherwise you'll almost drop your guitar within 15 minutes like I did; the DVD I didn't even bother with - any songs you want to learn, go to Youtube, type in a song you love and "how to play" and you'll get a guitar teacher telling you exactly how to do it. Instead, the things you'll really need aren't included here. A guitar tuner is invaluable, buy one if you buy a guitar, it's essential for beginners and very affordable. A guitar stand, don't leave your guitar leaning precariously against a doorway or in a corner (they're also very inexpensive). A guitar case - a proper one, hard and fitting to your guitar. Lok straps, so when you buy a strap that it doesn't come loose and drop the guitar. A guitar capo - do you want to play "Norwegian Wood" or "Here Comes the Sun"? You need a capo and at a fiver apiece they're hardly expensive. And, this is optional of course, but some of my favourite songs are rock and punk, so a distortion pedal is also a must-have along with a spare cable (only a couple of quid), and a 9V power supply adaptor. As for the guitar proper, it's awesome. Looks good, sounds good, it's what I wanted from an electric guitar. Yes it's heavy but I like that quality to it, it feels sturdy and reliable. This is a great guitar but I wouldn't buy this package, I'd buy the guitar itself for twenty quid less than this package, and buy a second hand decent sized amp and the other items listed above. Rock on!

I was very pleased with this guitar (Rockburn Tobacco Sunburst LP Style) but first things first, you will definitely have to ditch the very inferior amp lead. It creates all sorts of noises and vibrations. So I immediately ordered a much better amp lead for just a few pounds, and it all sounded much better with no bad feedback. Can't remember but I'm sure it cost under £5. It was a much thicker rubber type lead... Not like the thin plastic amp lead that comes with the guitar. Being an enthusiastic learner I immediately went on to YouTube and found a 60 second tutorial video on how to correctly tune the strings. And as I have good hearing for notes it took just a couple of minutes for me to tune it in. Perhaps others that don't have a natural ear for notes, well they might want to watch a longer YouTube tutorial...and there are many up there. My one disappointment is that I didn't receive any kind of booklet on this excellent product. I just had to work out things for myself, ie the control knobs on the guitar itself. I like the way that when you turn down the treble controls you can get that jazz type guitar sound, rather like the great man himself Les Paul. And I also like the way you can turn up the 'Gain' button control on the amp which then gives you that great rock sound. The Gain button gives you the distortion that rock fans are obviously after. The volume from the 10 watt amp is surprisingly powerful and at no time have I even attempted to turn it full up. Maybe if someone let me practice in an empty Church hall or something I would investigate it's volume potential. But I'm very pleased with this guitar. It's great for learning. And I love the little amp with it's big sound. I also love the look of it as well. But for some that have only played on lighter acoustic guitars, be prepared in that these electric ones are slightly heavier so you will need to use the supplied guitar strap. So yes I'm thrilled with my new Rockburn guitar and already I' m learning the chords on several YouTube tutorials.

I really do not understand the positive reviews this guitar has received. It may look good but it is incredibly poorly made. Everything rattles, you get fret buzz all down the neck. The frets were all uneven. The switches are loose and fall off constantly. Starter packs are supposed to make people want to play this sort of craftsmanship is likely to put people off as no matter how much one improves the sound will always be off. I learned a valuable lesson from this cheap strats are easier to make than les pauls. If you are considering this for someone as their first guitar I would suggest getting a cheap stratocaster instead; there are plenty out there

I brought this a while ago as my First guitar. This is a pretty good guitar for it's price. It's downsides are the weight, it's heavy. Roughly 4kg / 9lb. I also found it hard to reach the 22nd fret and had to tighten the Bolt-on neck and raise the strings, this is really easy on this Guitar. The good points are this guitar is built to suit every kind of music, from Blues to Heavy Rock. The amp isn't bad for a beginner amp, but the overdrive is quite loud. The strap is not padded and this makes it quite uncomfortable to play the Guitar while standing, the Strap locks are also not very good, they slip from time to time. But overall, a good Guitar pack at a decent price.
