The LEGO Architect

Build it yourself, brick by brick
The book came out in 2015 which is you can pick up a copy really cheaply. The essence of the title is ten buildings with step-by-step visual instructions, just like the real LEGO instructions. There are a couple of other instructions to show a load-bearing structure and a curtain-wall building that could be part of your own building. Of the ten models, I loved the Art Deco movie theater. For best results, I think you should have the LEGO Architecture Studio box though I don't think the company sells this anymore. All the how-to-make models are shown as mono photos and the Architectural box only has white pieces (but with clear acrylic window pieces). The book is also a sort of primer about architecture but very superficial I thought the colour photos of the building were rather well chosen and they are all captioned. Many of the buildings are also LEGO models made by professionals and using thousands of pieces.I think it's well worth getting if you can find a cheap, good copy, say, less than eight pounds.

Solid gift for the more mature Lego fan!
Really interesting high quality book, would make a great gift. The book mixes a combination of background information of different architecture styles, images of master builds and instructions on how to build 10 buildings. There is also a useful builders guide at the back of the book providing some tips on making your own creations. The only issue is economically getting hold of the required blocks to build the models. Although the book itself only costs £15, you will likely end up shelling out a lot more to get the pieces. Even if you have quite an reasonable Lego collection you would be unlikely to have all the pieces required to make even one of these models. A quick google brings up a couple of really useful websites providing information on the bricks required and guides to getting hold of them. The Lego Architecture Studio set is a good place to start, however it has been discontinued and is not cheap to get hold of.

a good brick time read
As an AFOL and working as an Architect this book ticket all the boxes, the models shown are brilliant and detailing achieved from simple bricks. The are a number of small builds to follow and photos of large builds from around the world. This is a good coffee table book easy for anybody to pick up and flick through even if not a lego fan.

The perfect companion to LEGO Architecture Studio
This is the perfect companion to LEGO Architecture Studio as it provides lots of examples for every major architectural style. A well-presented book with simple instructions and (very) basic background info on the architectural history it makes reference to. Unlike the book that comes with Studio (which is very good for different reasons) this book does have complete instructions on how to build some of the designs. This is however well balanced by not being overly prescriptive - the author encourages you to explore and design your own models, and showcases many models from different contributors. My only improvement would be for the book to have more content (it's less than 200 pages) - more architectural background info, further tips and tricks for building techniques, and more models. Unless there's plans for Volume 2...In summary a great buy, and better value than some of the official LEGO books. Unfortunately my book arrived with the cover slightly damaged (it looked like customs had inspected it - did it ship from the US?) but I didn't bother returning it as I'd rather not be without it again, which I guess speaks for the quality of the contents.

Great Book
Really nice book that give young adults an introduction to architecture through the medium of Lego. Simple to follow with great pictures. Probably for children over 8 but I really enjoyed looking at it with my 6yr old.

My 16yrs old loved it but wished for more smaller size illustrations
My 16 years old daughter loved it. Great book about LEGO architecture and nice introduction for older kids to the architecture world. Her only complaint was that she wished if there was in the book more illustrations of not so big builds that she can emulate. The huge builds illustrations are useful but may need parts out of reach of most people in quantities. They also cannot be created using only the given illustration. But overall thumbs up!

Styles and plans
A guide to the styles, as well as how to make them in Lego.Interesting from the architectural point of view and with plans so you can make them.No bricks with the book though! Not just for those who like Lego

More value than obvious
This book has plans for a number of fairly simple LEGO models which I have not attempted yet. The best part of the book is the text that describes modern architecture. The content is succinct but informative and well written. The concepts of the various styles are then applied in the included construction instructions that are as well documented as any LEGO kit you could buy.

Ótimas referências
O livro mostra uma riqueza de exemplos e vocabulário. As referências são maravilhosas. Não dá pra ler sem um Google do lado pra buscar sobre construções ou novas palavras/termos. Muito bom.

Inspirational!
This book is surprisingly fantastic for being first and foremost a Lego builders companion. It is well written and is a very interesting read to get familiar with varying architectural themes. The photos are plenty and cover a lot of variety from all over the globe. I've got the Architectural Studio set on the way and this book will be the first reference I use to get started in building things. The numerous examples in the book has inspired me to seek out plans for building some of the other amazing structures.I've also commandeered all the kids Lego in the house to start creating a bigger masterpiece. They're sad but I'm happy and if dad is happy then all is good in the world. I might let them help.
