I was delighted to see that these are still made, because they are just as they were when I first collected them in the early 1970's! They are offered in several solid colors, these were tan. That's useful if the recipient wants rival groups for play battles. I love WW2 aircraft, and can attest that these are remarkably accurate, accounting for the open undersides and simplified single molded plastic. They are North American (Company) P-51 Mustangs, Curtis P-40 Warhawks, and Messerschmitt BF 109 E (Emils). So two designed in the US and used by the Allies, and one designed by Germany and used by the Axis nations. They are also easy to tell apart from each other. I bought one set for a child to learn about the famous Red Tails, an all African-American fighter unit which used P-40's then P-51s and often fought against Me 109's but these three designs were used in so many ways that there is a wealth of stories about them. These are very reasonably priced, detailed but still simple sturdy toys. The propellors are attached well, but a child with enough imagination could even enjoy one that had lost its propellor, since those are largely invisible in flight. They all do come with molded simplified landing gear, so they look good on the ground as well as in the air.

I painted red circles and lines to make them look closer to the Japanese war planes

Great little plastic WWII-era fighter planes that fit well into a WWII army men collection, but I encountered a strange quality control issue with my set. Each set should contain three of each aircraft for a total of nine, but I received ten total, five P-40s, only two BF-109s, and only the P-51s were in the correct quantity of three. In addition, three of the P-40s had propellers seemingly meant for the BF-109s, so I had three propellers popped off in transit which fit too loosely on the P-40s. In total, I have seven planes that are assembled as intended. An unusual quality control issue for the usually dependable TimMee/BMC Toys company. Hoping to have a correct replacement set.

They are nice you can paint them yourself and the front propellers move.
