Does it kill eggs and the lice?

No. This is just a prevention spray. If your child gets headlice you need the nitty gritty lotion and comb.

Are "head lice defence spray" and "conditioning defence spray" are identical products?

I have received the conditioning defence spray and I would say they are not the same as the head lice defence spray has a stronger smell, similar smell but stronger, hope I can can an exchange, without any hassle!!!

Is this as effective than buying tree tea oil and diluting it in water and putting it in a spray bottle?

Much more effective than tea tree. My daughter never got another infestation in primary school after using this. Every time the school sent a letter about lice we used it & managed to avoid catching them. Children are always huddled together with their heads touching. We swear by it.

it has a nice smell with a blend of natural ingredients with a gentle and lovely lavender perfume and Tea Tree Oil, that keeps everyone’s hair fragranced. here are the ingredients:Aqua, Dimethicone Copolyol, Amodimthicone, Panthenol, Tideceth-12, Glycerin, Cetrimonium Chloride, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavenderoil), Azadirachta indica (Neem oil), Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree Oil), Triethanolamine, Disoidium Edta, Magnesium Chloride, Magnesium Nitrate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone. Hope this is off some help to you, i have tried different defence products and this is the best of all and has kept the nits away too plus the smell is nice too.
