Very useful and versatile, although far too expensive
Summary of good and bad points, then full review: Positives: Really versatile (heat proof, dishwasher proof etc) Sticks well to most surfaces, including plastics that others glues don't stick Stays put and last well Quite strong, have hung more than the recommended weight, using multiple large blobs Sealed packets keep at least 2 years in fridge Negatives: Price! Hard to get off hands Have to use whole packet - open packs will not keep, even if wrapped well Can't really be cleaned once used, and can look dusty/dirty after a while Can be tricky to get shape you want Full review: 2 years ago, I bought 2 packs of 8, and have found it really useful. Back then, I paid £4.99 and £5.49 each per pack, during a sale. Thought it quite expensive even at those prices, for the amount you get. Now, it's a horrendous price.. But: price aside, this is REALLY useful and versatile stuff. My repairs are far from invisible, and I find it tricky sometimes to get the shape I want. It's also quite messy on your hands, especially the black/coloured ones. I need soap and a scrubbing brush to get it off, and it makes me wonder how easy it really is to remove from other surfaces. I've only removed one lot so far, from metal, which was reasonably easy. Also, you've got to use the whole packet, as others mentioned. I tried storing an open packet, wrapped back into the packet and covered in cling film, but it was dry only days later. Sealed, in the fridge, the packets have kept well for 2 years, though. But the positives far outweigh the disadvantages, and I've found myself using this all over: repairing cracked hard-plastic propagator lids and various other plastic items, making heat proof handles for saucepans, hooks and fixing things to walls, a blob to stop my over-the-door shelf from sliding sideways, stopping doors from banging against the wall, keeping tablets from falling off stands, etc, etc. It sticks plastics that other glues won't, too. It stands the test of time very well, although does get slightly dirty/dusty looking after a while, and you can't really clean it.. but it's strong, and sticks well to most surfaces, as long as they're clean and grease free (I use alcohol). Despite the high price, will probably buy more, as will really miss it otherwise..

Gives your appliances a second life. Love it!
Ever since the conglomerate of big companies conspired to "drive" the economy by sacrificing the quality of their products for short term gain by overconsumption of bad quality items, the market has been screaming for a product like this. As an Apple owner ( but not a fanboy ) I love using my computer for hard gritty creative work and expect the damn thing to last me a long time. However, the evil geniuses at Apple have decided to invent a demonic, Satanic laptop charger from the deepest pits of hell that uses cables made with the same quality as political promises of US presidents. The cables and the connections are flimsy and cheap. So the Sugru has generously provided my dreadful Apple laptop charger with a much needed surge of sturdiness and support around the cable connectors in order to spare me from the ordeal of purchasing a new one for no good reason. Besides using sugru on my laptop ( and charger ), smartphone, powertools and other products, I came to the conclusion that this stuff is not only really handy for prolonging the life of all your beloved physical items, it's also a philosophic weapon that empowers all the people who want to give the finger to the big corporations that intentionally make LOW quality products that will break really quickly. If Sugru guys want take the big fatcat corporations by their overgrown genitals, they need to solve 2 small issues: 1. This stuff must be kept in a few plastic bags, because the wrapping it comes with will get porous over time and your Sugru will become useless after a few months. Work on your packaging, guys! 2. Sugru needs to be much cheaper than it is now. There are thousands of way to use it, but the price of Sugru will be an issue for those creative minds like students, kids and brilliant home improvers. As I told, this stuff is really amazing. I totally love it and it gave many of my devices a longer "service life" and that is beyond awesome!

Not bad stuff this. Seriously.
I decided to order this strangely named `Sugru` (I suspect it`s japanese for something?) after reading reviews on what it`s supposed to be able to do. Being a bit of a tinkerer I decided to order this stuff even though I wasn`t quite sure exactly what it could do. The item arrived pretty quickly and you get around 8 sachets of the stuff. Ok what to fix? My mind went into a blank and I couldn`t think of anything. Then I remembered my old security boots that I had not worn for nearly 5 years because the leather and the heel had started coming apart. I had gone to a shoe repairers and they were doubtful about a successful repair and even if it was worth it. I put the boots aside, but never got rid of them cos I liked them and they were still quite new. I cut open a sachet and pulled out this black chewing gum, blu-tac thing. Moulded it until I had the thickness I wanted and applied it to the boot liberally, covering the entire entire fully all around. Then I left it overnight (it needs 24 hours). After that time looked at the boots. Even though the finish isn`t smooth, I doubt few would tell since the black colour was perfect for the boot. I put them on, tied them up. Walked about a bit. Felt ok. Over the next few weeks, I went out in them, to work, while cycling, everywhere and the boots did not re-open; they stayed sealed. Wow. Impressed. My daughter accidentally broke my favourite cup that has been around forever. She can`t remember a time that cup wasn`t there. The handle had broken off in THREE parts. I said `never mind`. "Use that Sugru you`ve been going on about, Dad! PLEAASSE!" So I did. I place a third of one sachet for each part of the handle on the cup and left it overnight. Tried it gingerly the next day with a cup of tea. No falling cup. I`ve been using it solidly for 2 weeks, even as I write this! It don`t look pretty, being a white cup with black bits on the handle, but I`m not one for fashion- I care that it works! So this stuff really does the trick. It`s amazing. it`s obviously some new-fangled chemical whatchamacallit invention thingy some boffin has figured out to easily fix many things. I could`ve really used this stuff 10 years ago! It`s PERFECT! Well, actually, no it isn`t. My headphones broke on one ear. I used the Sugru to seal the broken earphone back to over-head strap. It seemed to work, but only a day later the headphones fell apart again to my surprise! I`m giving it another go, but Sugru isn`t perfect. Nothing Human is. Still a very good product so far and seems to work well on most things. It appears waterproof and somewhat heat proof. Surfaces need to be clean before applying and you have 30 minutes to apply, then leave for 24 hours. It really does the job, except on too smooth (?) Headphones. I`m especially chuffed that its bought life to a pair of good boots that I kept in some kind of hope they`d be fixed one day. This thing has many fixing possibilities I haven`t even considered yet. Recommended.

An incredible invention that has endless uses
This stuff is truly amazing and a must for anyone who fixes things or just like to mould or make things. The team that invented this should be applauded as I've used the packet I got in the first month. I got the white and black pack as I already had jobs in mind for how I would use them. The packet contains small foil/plastic packs of Sugru Mouldable glue that you simply rip open and follow the instructions for use. I would highly recommend following the instruction to the letter as this stuff works great when you do and it would be a waste for it not to work on an application because you had not. Once you have followed the instructions for getting the Sugru ready you have a good 30 minutes to apply to your chosen application or moulded shape. I have even blended the black and white together to make a light grey mix which I used on some tools. So far I've fixed a leaking petrol hedge trimmer that was leaking petrol around the fuel tank and after 3 months of use shows no sign of the Sugru breaking down or moving, this is great as it was previously unusable. Along the same line I have fixed two tubs that were leaking and also one swimming pool that had split around the air intake valve, this I did similar to a puncture repair, roughing the area with sandpaper to give the glue to have something to grip on. The biggest fix to date was a large hole in a white car spoiler that took four of the small packets but fixed the hole with little or no prep or aftercare, my Step Dad was, very pleased with the outcome. I've also created tool bit grips for my electric drills to place different bits on the base of the handle and cable runs for cables behind my monitor etc. One tip is to be patient, don't touch your moulded glue until 24 hours later as only when it sets off do you get the super tough rubber feel you need for most jobs. Also, this stuff has an expiration date so don't' buy too much at a time but enough for those immediate jobs. Overall, this stuff is incredible, excllent value for money and a must have for most homes or tool boxes. It would be extremely helpful to me if you hit the YES button if you liked my review or NO and a comment so I can improve future reviews.

Useful, Creative, Effective and Easy. Slightly expensive but worth it, can DIY for less
This is such a clever idea and product, it is extremely versatile and gives you many examples for use (which you end up trying). I used this to seal a break in the rubber coating of my apple charger. Apple chargers are so expensive and just one packet sorted it out! It is an expensive product for the amount your getting, but the effectiveness and ease of use is unrivalled. Pros: -it is clean (no mess or residue everywhere like glue) -it is easy to use (can spend a long time perfecting a seel or shape before it sets) -effective (once on it doesn't break, I have been using my sugru fixed charger for half a year now and hasn't broken again!) -creative (the number of things this can be used for is unlimited, much better to have this then glue or tape in the cupboard) -small packets (just enough to do any job, so you don't end up wasting a huge amount) Cons: -expensive -pre-packeted (although there is enough in the packet, sometimes there is waste... so when I do open one I tend to have multiple jobs saved to use all with no waste) The fact I'm buying more is saying a lot. However, I have seen that you can make this yourself (a DIY job), using silicon sealant paste/gel and cornflour, so if you're up to making it yourself it could be alot cheaper. Hope this helped

Pity the putty isn't perfect at the price - beware cable rubbing
There's no doubt all sorts of creative uses for the product but, aside from reinforcing worn charging cables, I'm struggling to find them. Even with worn cables, I've found the Sugru only moves the problem further down the cable - leading to wear where the Sugru ends and the cable starts (see pictures). Problem is, the Sugru hardens over a period of days and even weeks to a plastic like hardness - beyond the rubbery texture that it has in the first few days. This means that it creates a "hard" friction point on the now reinforced cable where the cable rubs against the hardened Sugru. The result is what you see in the picture. The first I knew about the problem was when I had a stinging problem in my hand from reaching behind a cupboard and touching a live cable where the insulation sleeve had been rubbed away by the Sugru. Just a 2A sting to high resistance skin on my hand but, suffice to say, I won't be using Sugru on a child's tablet charger. I guess I could have used a rubber spacer/small washer to give the cable some breathing space but then a) I didn't know this would be a problem and b) at this price I expect the product, which is explicitly marketed as a cable repair solution, to work as advertised without any surprises. And that's one of the big problems: the price. For £3 it's possible to buy a decent new charging cable (Lightning a bit more). For bonding broken items such as plastic, super glue seems to do a better job. I tried to repair/fix a car passenger sun visor with Sugru - no dice. I had to glue it first because, despite seeming to make a decent bond, the Sugru wasn't able to withstand the rotational pressure required to flip the sun visor up and down. Two pieces of Sugru later and some glue and the visor was fixed but it could have been fixed just with the glue. I guess the Sugru is most useful when you have an odd (in every sense) job that doesn't quite fit a tape, glue or screw solution. I want to like the product - really do - and thus three stars. But having had both my hand and my wallet stung, I have to conclude that the product is a great solution to a problem that I can't quite see. Suggestion to Sugru: bundle some rubber grommets in with a cable repair package or/and better still reduce the price to a more affordable level so that I don't resent the expense of trial and error.

Useful for all kinds of small jobs (but not everything)
Lots of fun! The colours are bold. The material it dries to form is solid but still flexible, and it's got good adhesive properties (though should be left until completely dry). Can be tricky to mould as it's quite sticky/melty when warm. But maybe I just don't have the knack of it. I've tried it on many things, with varying degrees of success: - Mending an airbed (perfect) - Reattaching flexible plastic prongs to a case (perfect, the silicone's flexibility really helped) - Replacing plastic retaining clips (good, a little too flexible but does work) - Replacing a zip tab (very good, looks neat but needed a rigid core) - Reattaching two parts of a spectacle frame (failure, couldn't cope with the tension) - Replacing/repairing rubber feet on several electronic devices (perfect) - Gripping/gap-filling ring on USB car charger (perfect) 2018 edit: I’ve used it for more jobs. Essentially, remember that it’s always going to be soft, so it’s suitable where that’s what you want - but don’t expect it to have much resistance to movement. - Attached various things to tiles in the bathroom. Once dry, it’s miles stronger than eg. suction cups, but can still be removed (slicing then scrubbing) without damaging the tiles. Water resistant once hardened. Strong enough that I have a small shelf supported by some Sugru’d angle brackets that actually can be leaned on. - Tried to use it to repair various broken plastic clips (eg. curtain rail). Not at all suitable. - Padding to prevent wardrobe doors banging. Fairly successful, but could have done with being even softer. At least as good as felt pads. - Cable sheath repairs. Perfect.

My Desert Island Product
I love this stuff. DIY and our household do NOT go together. I think we have a drill somewhere in the garage, but to be honest, the other half has a spider army in there that keeps me out (it's where he stores my presents), so I tend not to go in there. I do have a screwdriver or two knocking around somewhere. But with this stuff, you don't need it. For example, I purchased one of those extendable mirrors that need to be screwed into a wall/woodframe, but the amazing design of my bathroom (yay Barrett NOT) I couldn't get the mirror close to where I needed it. However, I do have several shelves in the bathroom (with metal tube frame), so I emptied the appropriate shelving unit, laid it on it's back stuck some sugru in the correct place (I measured before moving it) and then placed the mirror's screw holds on top, waited 24 hours, put everything back. The mirror hasn't budged out of place, considering it's the main house bathroom, gets used alot, steam etc. Hasn't affected the sugru at all. Years ago, on a holiday with his grandparents, my son brought me back a faery sitting on a crystal ball. Last year I accidentally knocked it on the floor, and the faery separated from the glass but luckily didn't break. We tried various products, but nothing would hold it in place. A little bit of sugru and et voila, perfect. We had a integrated dishwasher installed, and we were told that they couldn't put the handle back on the outside of the door (to make it look like all the other kitchen cabinet doors). Luckily I had the right colour sugru, 24 hours later, perfect looking kitchen! (I did wait 2 hours, then took a sharp knife and carefully scraped away any excess sugru so that it wouldn't be seen. This product is just something I couldn't be without, and it comes in so many colours.
