SIAMP 32499910 Optima 49 Flush Valve - White

Very good item. Works like a dream and easy to fit if your replacing your old Siamp flush valve. No need to remove cistern, unless first time using Siamp.

This is the replacement for a damaged flush mechanism in your cistern. Usually the part in your old cistern that goes wrong is the rubber diaphragm, which seals the water outflow so that the tank can fill after you have flushed it. When this rubber diaphragm gets old it allows the refill water to leak into the pan, therefore your cistern doesn't fill up. What you notice is that water is constantly running into the pan, and when you try to flush the cistern you find that it is empty. IMPORTANT: Lower the toilet seat before you start work - you don't want anything to get lost by falling into the pan! Fitting this new unit is simple: Undo the chromium ring that surrounds the flush button. If it is difficult to turn you can put on a pair of washing-up gloves to give your fingers better grip. Once you have undone the ring you can lift-out the flush button and lift-off the lid of the cistern. You remove the old plastic flush mechanism by grasping it AT THE BOTTOM, pressing it firmly downward and rotating it by one eighth of a turn anti-clockwise. Wiggle the old mechanism and pull it out. Wipe around the circular plastic seating in the bottom of the tank to remove any grit or other debris then insert the replacement mechanism. Push it down into place by holding it AT THE BOTTOM then twist it firmly clockwise until it is locked in place. Replace the cistern lid, gently screw-in the new flush button that comes with the plastic mechanism. Do not tighten the chromium ring too much - it just needs to be sufficiently tight to stop the flush button from moving sideways; leave the chromium ring slightly loose so that it can be undone next time without trouble. If you examine the old plastic flush mechanism you'll probably find that the black rubber diaphragm is slightly shredded around its edge. Treat the new mechanism gently as you fit it; as you can see in the photograph the top is just held by two delicate stirrups, so grasp the mechanism at the bottom when you are fitting it in place.

The item works fine but note there is no doughnut/rubber seal included that sits between the cistern and toilet which is where my issue was so I had to go and purchase separately.

Worth buying easier to replace than the washer

Delivered with the same settings as the very old one that suddenly would not stop flushing, and includes a new flushing plunger for the top of the cistern. No need to turn of the water supply, just twist out the old fitting and twist in the new. Job done in less than one minute. It also comes with a new bottom fitting, but that requires removing the cistern to fit it. No need for that unless that was the cause of the problem. Simple.

If your toilet is constantly draining water into the pan, them you need to diagnose the problem. Unscrew the dual flush push button on the cistern lid and remove the lid - the cistern will either be full and overflowing into the central tube of the flush valve or empty, with the water escaping through the flush valve gasket. If it’s the former, you need to fix the inlet valve, but if it is the latter, then this replacement valve is a godsend. Follow the excellent instructions given in his review by Ian of Wales. In my case, although the toilet was only three years old, it was difficult to turn the valve assembly anti clockwise by a few degrees to release it from the strainer assembly which connects cistern and pan. Eventually, I put a little WD 40 on each of the two clips and behold, it came off. That was the hardest part over! Set up the new valve identically to the old one; the height of the stirrups, the lift rod and the residual water opening. The final setting is the sliding cursor which determines how large a “small” flush is. Don’t be overawed - it’s very easy and the valve is supplied with a good instruction leaflet. I bought the valve because I didn’t know what part had failed; I presume now that it was the valve gasket, which you can buy as as spare, avoiding having to replace the entire valve. However, am I happy? Absolutely!

Avevo dato un responso positivo inizialmente ma poi mi sono accorto dopo l’acquisto che i materiali non erano ottimali.

Système de chasse d'eau absolument parfait ! Tout est fourni, la notice est très bien expliquée, système changé en moins de 15 minutes Quand je me suis lancé dans le changement de ma chasse d'eau je me suis tout de suite dit que j'allais encore galérer pour faire un truc qui semble simple, hé bien pas du tout. J'ai simplement suivi la notice. Je remplace un système différent donc démontage de la cuve à eau, 5 minutes, seulement deux vis a enlever, un peu galère d'accès mais très simple a faire. Puis changement du gris joint entre la cuve et le siège, mise en place du système de vis et remise en place de la cuve, vraiment le tout m'a pris 10 minutes grand maximum. Et là le pompon sur la Garonne, la mise en place du système de chasse d'eau ... Une base a visser sur la vis mise en place précédemment au bas de la cuve et le reste se clipse en une seconde ... Tellement rapide que j'ai douté Je me suis dit que ça ne pouvait pas être si simple, hé bien si ! Enfantin !! Vraiment très très simple a mettre en place, j'ai rallumé l'eau, j'ai appuyé sur le bouton et tout est nickel, ça fonctionne bien, ça ne fuit pas ... Vraiment d'une simplicité étonnante !
