This is a very high quality product. Easy to install, effective at keeping pests (including the bear kind) out of garbage can and looks professionally installed. I augmented the kit with aluminum plates on the inside of the garbage can, mounting the outside plates to them sandwiching the garbage can plastic between the supplied plate with loop and my homemade inner plate to prevent the plastic from tearing if force is applied to the cables. Highly recommended. I will purchase again.

I bought this item for my four commercial trash cans I bought. I only use one string for each trash can. I put it in the middle on the trash can. It is super easy to install. So far it does it’s purpose. Keeps the trash can close until we have to open them to throw garbage. The strings are very strong and durable. I recommend

UPDATE 8-22-24 This kit is even worse than I thought. Last night a bear ripped the cable open. See the video and pic. Bought this kit based on reviews but now I’m having my doubts about how real they are. Maybe the manufacturer changed something? Idk. I’ve been in construction for over 30 yrs and I expected this to be as straight forward as it looks. Unfortunately, the screws they sent are larger than the holes in the hasp and they do not sit flush in the countersink of the pre-drilled holes. (See Pics) This is extremely dangerous because the average customer is gonna do one of two things 1. Return it… which is probably best. 2. Attempt to drill the holes out bigger. That’s where it becomes very dangerous because as soon as the drill bit grabs, the hasp will start to soon unless you have it in a vice or secured another way. Holding the hasp in hand while you drill it could send you to the ER real quick. Because I expected this to be a straight forward install, I went outside before bed, thinking this would be a 20-30 min install. Once I realized the hardware issue, I now have holes in my garbage can and the previous brackets removed. Oh… did I mention it’s bear season here? Yeah.. so, I had to finish the install with the wrong bolts. Two other things that is not great with this kit is 1. The nuts are not a nylon style, locking nut. As the garbage truck picks the can up a few dozen times, the nuts tend to get loose. I know because my last make shift set up from the previous homeowner did the same thing. 2. The carabiner clips are a total joke. They are something you might see attached to your child’s play purse or teddy bear. This was not the cheapest of similar options I found while searching through Amazon. So, I expected it to be what the listing implies. I will later add some blue loctite to the nuts and get new carabiner clips.

They were a little tricky installing them but appear to work. Fortunately, the bear has not re-appeared yet!

Easy to install and has kept the bear out of our trash cans. Have held up so far.

We had some issues with our garbage cans getting raided. This past week, with the new cables installed there has been no issue. The installation was simple and I did three additional things: 1. After tightening the bolt washers, I cut the bolts so that they did not stick as far into the garbage can and … 2. I duct taped over the protruding bolts to prevent ripping of plastic garbage bags. 3. I used string to tie the locking clips to the garbage can itself to prevent loss of the clips when the garbage pickup people remove them. The strings were installed to leave lots of slack for ease of removing and adding the locking clips each time. Finally, I used this four pack to install two lines each on two separate garbage cans.

Spent years picking up garbage after visits from Yogi and Boo Boo. This ended that problem on their first return visit. They could not open that trash can, they finally gave up and left.

These are awesome for keeping the critters (including dogs) out of our trash cans. Highly recommend!

Easy to put on, and keeps some pretty big bears in our area out of our trash! Great price and good build quality!

Just installed today so will update if required but seem to be good quality and I’m hopeful they will keep the racoons out!

This product works well on my green waste and garbage bins. My neighbourhood has bears regularly, and until I purchased and installed these locks, my garbage was attacked and spread around almost twice a week. Since I got these locks, the bins get knocked over, but the lids don't open. Until the bear can remove carabiners, he can't get into the bins. Great product; wish I'd ordered them sooner.

We live in a heavily forested area but don’t have a garage or storage area where we can keep our garbage bins put away. Every week I was cleaning up garbage from the mess made by the bears (understandably so!). Ordered these and we haven’t had an issue since. Bears kept coming back trying to open it but with no luck, they seem to have moved on. We only used two of the four and they are strong enough to keep the bears out for our small-ish garbage can. May have to use all four if it’s a larger garbage can. Very happy.

Bear can easily broke it! Not recommended
