Depth and clout
This is a great alternative G string, giving you more depth of sound to your ukulele. Recommended.

Great quality strings
Love the sound of Aquila and the low G string gives added depth

it's fine, but....
Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Sounds fine when playing with others, but a bit odd when playing on my own. A wound string has different sound characteristics and on reflection, I should have bought the Aquila unwound Red low G

Low G
I put a low G on as a trial, as I'm not sure that I like the tinkly uke sound. I do like playing with a group of friends though. The low G makes the uke sound like a small guitar and much easier to transfer things from six strings to four. I've decided I will keep to low G and I've irfered a full set of Aquila low G reds

Five Stars
If you like finger picking this is a must. If you're just striking chords it gives a mellower sound.

Nice!
A low G gives my uke a whole different sound. Love the more bluesy twang to it.

G whizzzzzzzzzz
For me this is the missing link. Being a guitarist it's disconcerting for the pitch to suddenly go up against expectation. I do agree that the high-g lends a certain sound to the uke which is nice but I prefer the low-g. I dropped the high-g string I was using an octave but that sounded worse with the string losing too much tension! Still, as long as you have fun and make sweet music it matters not.

Probably takes 2 weeks to stretch?
I bought this single wound G string and using it with existing Aquila Super Nylgut AQ-103 Concert Ukulele Strings on an inexpensive Enya EUT-X1 concert uke. Might have been wiser to buy all four, but the new string seems to match the other Nylgut strings, as far as sound. It has needed hourly, then daily tuning for the first two weeks, but it seems to be almost fully stretched now, Easy tuning tip for types like me that just do chords. The next string is C, three notes away from the low G. Go up to the fifth fret on the new string and it will sound same as next one.

Great string for replacing high-G with low-G on your ukulele
I decided to replace the high-G string on my concert ukulele with a low-G because I am a strummer and not a finger-picker. The Aquila low-G is a wound string (vs. nylon filament) and sounds great on my concert uke. Because it is wound, it is narrow enough to fit in the nut without having to file or widen the slot (which is not the case for a nylon filament string). Very happy with the sound, and after the usual 2-3 day stretch and break-in, stays in tune. Always buy Aquila.
