NJB Pocket Edition Bible (New Jerusalem Bible)

Esencial for everyday life. Small version of The holly bible is very handy. I can carry with me everywhere

I needed this Bible to check with other translations, It is very good in that it has God's name - Yahweh in the Hebrew text, so is accurate and you can confirm the message hasn't changed in other Bibles, just the phraseology, But the meaning and essence is the same. Good to have for reference. Very small though, so be aware, most of us will need glasses to read it!

This Bible is one you can take with you anywhere. Its translation is easy to understand and what is best it includes both Old and New Testaments. It might not be perfect though for people with sight limitations as the letters are quite small.

Space does not permit too much detail in a fairly scholarly review such as this, though I would hope this is written more objectively than just praise or condemnation. In a test of 257 verses that bibles have a problem with this bible along with its earlier version the Jerusalem Bible scores 205. The Douay Rheims scores 64, the New International 247. So, 64 is very good, 247 is very bad, and 205 is not too bad. The problem comes from its reliance on the Nestle Aland Greek text, so favoured by liberal theologians and politics. Nestle Aland is the work of man if not the devil, in that it, in its turn is reliant on Codex Sinaiticus, now believed to be an early 19th century fake, Codex Vaticanus, which is not near so old as is claimed, and Codex 2427 (have I got that number right?) which is also a 19th century fake. Nevertheless (and this is the pocket hardback version) it is a nice compact bible, which reads quite well on the whole, even though the print is quite small. I like the return of “Blessed are they” instead of “happy”, but in Psalm 23 “Yahweh” remains, but the wording has changed for the better, and that applies to most of the changes, they are better. However some of the gender neutral changes can sound a bit crass. I quite like the lack of notes. Notes are often written by liberals who would as soon break or test your faith as give you worthwhile information. I quite like the way that it is left open as to the historical writing order of the synoptic gospels. (This can be argued about till the cows come home). There are no maps in the back and no notes at the bottom to speak of, though there is an indexed list of names and a simple concordance at the back. Like most modern versions I would not use it to argue a point of faith, though it is not far off. So, yes, I quite like it. You could do a lot worse.

What's wrong with you all!!!! It's perfect!!!! OK... It may have tiny print, but I knew that. I bought a "pocket size" bible ......Dah? I bought this before I read the reviews, and I saw what I wanted and I am still satisfied. A small book will have small print. Get Glasses! Praise God!

very convenient to use -contains essential information - impressed with the quality of the item and the service - and especially the price - the itme will be put to good use - it is not heavy and as one gets older one has to avoid heavier items to spare one's joints and muscles

I have bought many Bible off Amazon but today I decided to write a review for anyone who wants to buy this translation . Let me make this clear the Writing inside this Bible is very small indeed . I am blessed with good eyes but after reading two pages am struggling . The Bible itself is lovely , and you can smell the leather before you even open the package . Its well made and should last a life time if you take care of it . Its sad really because the intruduction part of the Gospels the writing is a bit larger, if only it was like this throughout the Bible . I decided to keep the Bible for two reasons am a Catholic even tho am Born Again , and I thought it will be ok to put in my Work Bag. But , before you buy Please consider the Size of the writing .

I think it is a very good Bible for presentation. It is well preserved with the leather cover. I was very happy to give him such a precious book on the occasion of his baptism. I am sure he will cherish the New Jerusalem Bible and read it at least once a week. I received it on time and also in good condition. thanks very much for the quick delivery.

La Bibbia non c'entra niente. Ma i caratteri sono minuscoli. Non capisco. Eppure c'è spazio anche se è una Bibbia tascabile ma davvero hanno ridotto troppo i caratteri e non ce ne era bisogno. 1 stella per i caratteri. Ovviamente restituita.

Siempre me ha gustado la Biblia de Jerusalén por su traducción y constante renovación de sus notas de estudio, y aquí tenemos un ejemplo de ello, aunque es la edición de bolsillo mejoró en sus notas y materiales auxiliares.

This is a very attractive Bible, and in my copy there is no issue with page 1396. The font is a bit small and the pages a bit thin, but that is to be expected when ordering a "pocket sized" Bible. I like the gold edges, the explanatory comments and headings, and the overall feel of this Bible. The Apocrypha is included. This Bible is exactly what I was hoping for. Quick delivery, too.
