BISSELL Sturdy Sweep, Lightweight Sweeper, Lay-Flat, For Carpet, Hard Floors, Area Rugs, 2402E

Absolutely brilliant! I have ME/CFS and I am very weak with little strength in my hands and I get exhausted very quickly.. I assembled the cleaner on a table. Very easy and straight forward to do. The actually cleaning box is much smaller than my ancient second hand Bissell cleaner which still works very well (and better than a vac too) and is very light even with the handle attached. It cleans like a dream, much much better than my vac. I alternated one hand to another to distribute the strain on my hand, wrist and arm that one experiences with repetitive actions and it was SO easy and light to push. I cleaned my two bed bungalow within about 10 mins! I could never do that with my vac. It did not tire me out at all. It picked up EVERYTHING. No bending to pick up bits like I do with my vac. This cleaner will replace my vac for regular use. It slides under chairs easily. Because it is so light there is no exertion or strain in lifting the cleaner to empty, which is straight forward and easy. Even my smaller 'light' vac can be quite tiring to empty and fiddly too and it never picks up stuff very well. This is fantastic value for money and a great cleaner. It is a joy to use. Also there is no noise which is a bonus too. You don't have to worry about disturbing the neighbours. All of my carpets are over 18 years old. Not thick pile which is only fair to mention. This light cleaner now enables me to sweep my carpets more regularly which can only be a good thing and it cheers my spirits not seeling 'loads of bits' on the carpet which the vac has not picked up and which I am unable to pick up due to exhaustion. 10/10 Bissell

So glad I found this ! As a busy mum with young children who hate the noise of the hoover and can never get anything done this is a no brainer. I bought this with the intention of being able to do a quick tidy up when the children are asleep without waking them or the downstairs neighbours and although not completely silent its very quiet, picks up a lot and the children think it's magic and always want to use it. Works much better on carpet than hard flooring but does still work well. Its very sturdy and can withstand being rammed into furniture by a toddler, free standing and slides under furniture too. I do wish there was a tool to clear the hair off the main brush though but that's the only downside really! I would recommend for those who want a quick, quiet, back and energy saving option to tidy up the floor in-between hoovering you'll be surprised how much it picks up!

I bought this as I have MS and sometimes struggle to use our Shark hoover due to the weight. The Bissell is incredibly light but really effective. Owning a Jack Russell who's life's ambition seems to be to shed on every surface in the house, this sweeper is a lifesaver as it's very effective in picking up dog hair from the carpet. I was really surprised just how much it picked up - hair, fluff, scraps of paper etc. Obviously it won't suck up dust from deep down in the carpet, but for a quick daily clean it leaves the carpet looking spotless, and even leaves sweep lines in the pile! The sweeper unit itself feels well put together and solid. The only downside is the quality of the handle - it's four metal poles which screw together, but within two weeks the threads had stripped just from using the sweeper. Easily solved with some teflon tape, but it really should be designed better. Apart from the handle, really pleased with the performance of the sweeper.

I bought this carpet sweeper as our hoover died and I couldn't afford to get a new one straight away. I remember my nan used to "run the carpet sweeper round" everyday before she went to work so I thought I'd try it (as it was relatively cheap). Best money I have ever spent. It is extremely light weight but picks up stuff fantastically from carpets. Really easy to empty. Gets hair caught round the brush part (as all hoovers do) bust it easy to get to a clean. Is maneuverable so have been able to do the stairs. Works OK on tiles and laminates but on carpet is brilliant. Will probably get a hoover at some point but for now it's doing a brilliant job. So much easier to get out the cupboard, run it round, empty and put it back, even before I would have managed to lug the hoover out and unwind the chord! The only thing I would recommend is emptying it after every use (literally you press on one side of the bottom plate to open) and tip it into a bin. Also store upright.

Bought a replacement after 5 happy years of using one of these, but the plastic hand grip on new one doesn't screw onto the bar, its too wide and comes off when sweeping! (Made in China). Its a good job I've been able to to fit and use the bar handle from my old one as its otherwise a nifty little sweeper and I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of sending it back.

Perfect sweeper for low pile carpeted areas. My grandmother had one of these in the 1960s. It's designed and construction hasn't changed. Why change to what works! It's literally bristles on a roller ... that catch up the dust/hairs/crumbs on the carpet, and brushes it off on the lips of the collector traps, ready for you to empty it into your bin. Love it.

As with the lady a few reviews below, I am also disabled and a hoover is very heavy to push and even plug in because of bending to the plug. I have found adjusting to being disabled very hard, not being able to work or even doing the housework. My hubby also works nights but cares for me and does all the household duties. I had a thought about these little sweepers when I was thinking about my nan and she had one when I was a child so I look on amazon and read the reviews. I thought well it costs next to nothing why not give it ago.....I am sooooo glad I did!!! It was delivered the next day with Prime and I was able to fit it together myself as the handle comes in sections that you just screw together and away you go. It is unbelievably light and easy to push and pull across our thick carpet. It picked up crumbs and dog hairs (we have a chocolate labrador that is multing badly at the mo!) and even wood chippings (hubby was in garden doing the decking cutting up wood and walked some shavings in tut tut!). I was really shocked at just how much this picked up. It lifts the carpet pile back up too. It is so easy to empty and that's coming from someone with little strength in her hands. The actual sweeper part folds up so that the whole thing can be stored nice and neatly out the way in a narrow gap beside my fridge! To say I am happy with this is an understatement! House work is a chore to most people but once you can no longer do it you wish you could. This sweeper has given me a tiny bit of independence back in the house. It is so quiet unlike a hoover so I am able to sweep away twice a day with out waking hubby. He now will only have to do a through hoover once a week! Perfect all round!!!

I wouldn't rave about it quite to the extent other have, but this is really good value for money. It's light, easy to assemble, within 15 minutes of it arriving I'd put it together, whipped around the hall, the kitchen, bathroom and a bit of the living room. If I'd having been pulling out the vacuum to do the same job it probably would have taken twice as long. I think it picks up better on hard floors than carpet. Yes it is a bit flimsy and dinky, but what do you expect for the price. It does what I need it to do, which is mainly pick up the grass cuttings and vegetation that are constantly being walked into the hallway and through the kitchen door. As well as pick up all the chest hairs from the bathroom which the other half seems to shed like snow! I think it's worth the money, getting the vacuum out just to hoover the hall is a pain, it's heavy and cumbersome and takes forever to unwind the cord and wind it back again when I'm finished. This is light, no cord, no batteries to charge, no lecy to burn and it does a good enough job for quick clean ups.

Great. Works especially well on carpets. No more having to drag the electric vacuum cleaner out every day.
