Nice quality

Bought these for my mum for Mothers' Day, both to break the scented candle/cookery book mold; to get her something she would be able to use often and with real joy; and something she probably would never think of herself. She was sufficiently surprised when she opened her gift - they come wrapped very well and securely in tissue paper so no worries about them breaking. The box is pretty basic really, might be nice to see a few extra pounds spent on a display box of some description (perhaps along the same lines as the whisky bottle will come in...) They sit very well in the hand, lovely shape, the base especially is just the right blend of delicate curve and solid, satisfying weight. No worries about setting them down a little too hard (after a couple) and snapping the stem. They are surprisingly high quality crystal for the price- they take a really great shine and very little distortion to the glass. I am not a fan of the laser etching of 'The Glencairn Glass' into the bottom - frankly unsightly and not a wise move to try and advertise to people who have already purchased the glass. Perhaps they were hoping for restaurant commissions etc. but I would expect them to put the customer first with a product like this. Overall they perform very well. Whisky is well presented and looks appealing, glass is very thin and gives a very true impression of the colour and integrity of the fluid. Odours are contained very well and this is the real benefit of a dedicated scotch glass over the conventional tumbler. All in all very pleased. My mum loves them and my dad is very happy to make furtive use of one as well. Top stuff. Star taken off for the cheap box and unsightly etching in the base.

I've been something on an aficionado of single malt scotch for over a quarter of a century, but in all honesty, it saddens me to realise how much I must have missed out on over the years. The beautiful little pot belly of these glasses has a very distinct purpose, as I've now learned through some research. Rolling the scotch in the glass increases the surface area of evaporating alcohol and drastically increases the level of aerosolised molecules zooming their way up into your nose. In short, the aroma is way more complex and layered. Single malts in my collection that I previously considered rather flat, suddenly bloomed into hugely multi faceted and complex entities, the difference is truly incredible. Secondly, on the form and style, beautiful to the point of art. The design, as formulaic as it may at first appear, is nothing short of elegance in it's truest essence. Ergonomic and unfathomably stylish, these gorgeous little glasses will mark you as a true connoisseur of the finer things and serve you well for many years to come, such is their robust durability matched only by their, quite frankly exquisite, beauty. It may be quite ridiculous to suggest that a simple glass has improved the quality of my life, but when enjoying the very finest spirits is a huge part of your day, these phenomenal glasses are first and foremost in such an undertaking.
