it's pretty straightforward - it's for practicing your sticking and rudiments etc when using a real drum would be too loud. I tend to use it while I'm watching TV or whatever. It's also got a threaded hole underneath so you can put it on a cymbal stand in front of you for comfort...

Does this pad really only weigh 90g?

same response as others, this one weighs 1.5 kg.

Hows the rebound feel? Ive had a traditional vic firth pad for years but looking for something with less rebound to be closer to the real drum feel.

This may not be the right product for you then. Its not quite the response you would get from a real drum unless you like your snare tight!
