Have a number of Dewalt products but these new XR versions are just superb.
My old Dewalt drill was coming to the end of its life and I decided to buy a new one with the most powerful battery possible. Not disappointed, this drill is just fantastic and much more powerful than I could have imagined. Liked it so much I have just ordered another drill (just the drill on its own) so that I can have both working at the same time. Als0, the batteries from my 18 volt XR reciprocating saw also fit this drill so I now have four batteries.Gave this 5 stars for the reasons outlined above and also because it was a good price when you consider you get two 4.0ah batteries and they cost a fortune on their own.

Quality not what was expected, packaging also a bit suspect
I would not recommend this product. I returned it to the supplier, with a note describing why...The chuck exhibited too much radial movement, for a premium product. A long bit, such as a flat blade wood bit, described a circle at the tip !Neither did I expect the longitudinal play - squeeze the trigger gently, and the chuck pops out 1/8" - wacky.I have since heard this may be the case for hammer/combi drills. My biggest grievance is that I have had the purchase price refunded, but not the postage!Secondly - the packaging - the tool comes in a sturdy case, but this was wrapped in a slightly thicker than normal black bin-liner!And there was no packing inside the case; the drill, spare battery, charger, and hand-grip could all have been rolling around in the case...3/10

best drill ever!!!
I purchased this drill for my son as he needed a decent drill for work as an electrician.we looked usual places such as screwfix B&Q etc. Came across this one which came with 2x 4ah batteries and at a very competitive price. It came in a fantastic carry case.My son has used it for the first time today and described it as an awesome drill ,the best he has used.Would highly recommend.

best ever
Bought this for work, Im a maintenance engineer and this drill does more than I will ever use it for. But my god it has some power and after doing many jobs with it now I don't no how I put up with the sub standard cordless drill/drills I had before.

Total Quality!
This is by far the best drill I have ever used, just holding it you can feel the quality. Its weighty due to the all metal gearing, which gives it amazing power (Concrete, No Problem). It has high torque and speed enough for any application.Feels comfortable to use and the belt clip, LED light and magnet for bits is a nice touch as they actually work, Very useful. The Batteries last ages and are quick to charge, so no tea breaks between jobs!Sure it might be a little on the expensive side, but it should last for years. It is one of those purchases that has exceeded expectations, Very rare these days!Overall: A top quality drill with no flaws that I can see, other than maybe the price!

Very Powerful, Tough and Well Balanced
I think this is a wonderful tool. I use it for my construction work and it handles whatever demands that I put on it from drilling steel, concrete and planks of timber. It's a complete powerhouse and feels very solid in my hand and yet is not overly heavy to hold. It is a drill for heavy construction work. If you want to just drill wood and fasten screws and lighter work like that then you may want to look at one of DeWALT's other drills/driver products but if you want to cut through heavy stuff very quickly then this is your machine. I always buy a high quality drill because I think they pay for themselves in terms of cutting through work and they have a longer life.I have only two suggestions that DeWALT could think about. When it comes to fastening screws a slower speed would help a lot. It can be a little tricky to maintain a slow driving speed using the trigger alone even in first gear. The three speeds are great but an additional switch to slow down further and create higher torque would be a great help. I say this from experience with a previous drill from a different manufacturer that could do it. It's a small point but it was a great help in the past. Secondly, I don't think I'm the only one who feels that the work light needs re-positioning as the chuck blocks the light somewhat, this however is a common problem with drills and not just a DeWALT issue. These two small points aside I would recommend this drill to anybody.
