Excellent preliminary to his Politics
The book is truly amazing in all respects. Oxford classics have a way of publishing their works with care and appreciation. The content itself is amazing, a beautiful insight into Aristotelian ethics and what he considered to be the chief good, his elaboration on eudaimonia and the contentment of the spirit via the implementation of how one should conduct themselves allows for seamless passage into his Politics. Well worth the read

An interesting reading as for ethics, including both one's private life and one's public life. Aristotle's crucial claim in ethics is that everything has a purpose in nature, and that which can fulfil its own purpose most is the best, in the sense that if we accept a knife's purpose is to cut paper, a knife which cuts more easily than another is a better knife than another, too. Based on this, considering the fact that virtue in the Ancient Greek both means excellence and the sense of virtue we use today as a moral character such as compassion, temperance, liberality and so on, only those who share the excellences (virtues) can fulfil their purpose to the greatest extent, that is, become the best. The reason why I give 4 starts instead of 5 is an acceptable deficiency of explanatory notes. The language we use today and that used by Aristotle are so far from each other that many words require quite a bit amount of explanation. However, in my judgement, the book, as I said, to an acceptable degree, fails to provide the required amount of explanations, which may result in spending extra time in order to fully grasp what Aristotle means, and worse, misunderstandings of his philosophy. edit- after reading several times, I realised one important and commonly neglected point which is also why many have a hard time comprehending it as well as other classics. Please go and check the important terms' meanings. For example, virtue in greek both means the virtue in the sense we use today as 'moral virtue' and excellence. In this respect, a good car driver can be said to possess the virtue of driving. In the same way, check other crual words' meanings, too, since when they have more than one meaning, it causes such big troubles in comprehending the book they are contained in. Enjoy your reading

A must Buy
A text not for the average reader, Aristotle exclaims not necesarily how we should act, but how we should be. This being said, many of his ideas are outdated and may seem primitive to us. However, for a man of his time, his ideas were the forefront of progress. Do not read this book expecting guidance of a perfect way of living, but rather, take from it the ideas of virtue and expand upon them through extended reading and personal beleif. Additionally, this is a must buy for any Philosophy or History student studying classical Philosophy or the History of Philosophy.

Aristotle's Ethics
Great book for beginners and experts alike. A must read if you are interested in virtue ethics. The translation seems excellent although there are always academic disputes over some terms. If you are not a beginner, you can always start with this and expand as you go. The delivery was great. The price was great. If you are interested in Nicomachean Ethics this is the book for you.
