A wonderful book. Learning science made easy.
I like everything about this book. Very well written and informative. Lots of colour and informative photos etc. The web provides further entertainment too. Good mix of optical and electron microscope examples. Covers subjects from forensic science to manipulation of electrons and everything between. Children will love it. I loved it!

Lovely book
Well illustrated and very in-depth but you can start as basic and then explore within the book which is also linked to the internet. Excellent my 6 year old grandson adores this especially to go along with using the microscope

Good quality book with stunning pictures.
This is a good book with some great illustrations but if I'm being picky it should be called the "Complete Book of the Electron Microscope". Although it does contain some information on optical microscopes most of the images are produced from a much more expensive electron microscope. Good book for educating kids on how animal & plant cells work as well as many other subjects. Written at just the right level for young kids. My son at 11 likes this book although laughs that it should be re-titled. Ideally I wanted a book more focused on optical microscopy as my son is just starting out using a microscope. I recommend getting this book but look for another too if you are more interested in the optical side of this interesting subject.

Excellent guide for the complete beginner!
Although this is a 'childrens' book it is ideal for those starting out with microscopes who want examples of different magnification. I found it very helpful in deciding the level of magnification I needed. The instructions on how to prepare slides are particularly useful. These are dotted round the book and show the materials you need to prepare each item and how to do it. Most adult books on the subject assume you already know this! There is a section suggesting kit you need to prepare items for slide mounting. This is an excellent book for those starting out and trying to decide what is needed - at the price, highly recommended!
