Good stuff Still successfully cleaning my soldering iron after many years.

I've always had problems getting my irons to tin either electric of gas. There is a way to do it on YouTube but I found this little tin of tinner really smart, I scrape the contents onto the hot tip, do the job, also on advice of a friend I put extra flux on the solder and tip, makes solder flow better. Recommended.

This works great for maintaining the top of my Hakko soldering iron, which I use multiple times per week for stained glass at around 360/410 degrees using blowpipe solder and liquid flux. I tin the tip probably four or five times a ‘session’ and before I switch the iron off. Lasts for ages even though it’s only a small tin. Only isdue I’ve had is as it’s a tin with a sort of press fit seal, if the tin starts to corrode/rust it jams and us an absolute nightmare to prize open again! Great value though - almost half the price of the stained glass specialist suppliers I use for the rest of my kit online.

Novice solderer here. I got this to re-tin my soldering iron(s) tips. The first photo is of a temperature-controlled soldering station which I haven't been using for long. The second is my main iron and first love, which was badly oxided. I tried re-tinning for 30 mins and this was the best I got. The substance/product is great but the tip was too oxided(never been tinned or taken care of properly). Anyway, as you can see from the second photo, the tip is partially tinned but it conducts heat properly now and solder flows well. Learning from the first re-tinning, I immersed the other in vinegar and after about 2 hours, the oxides were "corroded" away. Thinning in the product was a breeze. The adhesion was a lot better with a cleaner and less oxided tip. This would help me take better care of my soldering tips. The amount/size in the tin is adequate for several jobs. Well worth the money paid. I would recommend it to every novice and experts.

It "does what it says on the tin" -- you put the soldering iron tip into the tin and it comes out covered in solder. Great product, very happy with it.

Oh dear, what an awful headline. Fortunately, the tip tinner is not awful. I've got tinner from another brand, and somehow this one is significantly better. It coats more quickly and easily, and since using it I've had absolutely no problems with degradation of my solder tips. At the end of soldering, wipe off the solder from the tip and then gently put the tip into the tinner. It's like sand, but it melts on contact. Rotate the soldering iron and you've got full coverage. Simple. If there are areas where the tinner won't stick, those will need a bit of sanding. I didn't use to bother with tinner that much, and just went with some excess solder at the end of a soldering session. Predictably that didn't work out perfectly for me. The tin of tinner seems to basically last forever, so it's way cheaper than extra iron tips. Would strongly recommend, everyone should have a tin... of tinner.

Brought a tip back to life before my very eyes. It took quite a long time, this tip really was in need of some love. But it worked! And I've been buying new tips whenever they stopped sticking to the solder. Now I know I can use this to freshen them up occasionally and even bring one back to life if needed.

Restored heavily used soldering iron tip used for stained glass to perfect working order! My favorite tip for stained glass was getting dark and not performing well, thought I was either losing my touch, iron was going bad, or I needed a new tip. Alas, I didn't know you need to tin the tips once in a while after they get dark. This stuff did the trick and my tip is working perfectly again!!! Good stuff, easy to use. Will buy a couple more tins later when this one runs low. Must have for my glass studio.

This is my second time purchasing this tip tinner. I originally bought it at full price and was immediately impressed with how well it performs. It’s very easy to use and noticeably improves solder flow while helping extend the life of my soldering iron tips. Since it works so well and went on sale, I couldn’t resist stocking up. My only complaint is that I wish it came in a larger container.
