Leapfrog LeapReader Junior Toddler Milestones Book Set
These LeapReader Junior books are a brilliant introduction to reading for your little one and will help encourage them to get excited about reading too. We have both the LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Scout Book Pal and LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Violet Book Pal for my son and daughter. I bought the Scout book pal and several of the books for my 2 year old son as he has been struggling with his speech and I thought that this reading system would help him along with more words. I'm pleased to say that I do think they have actually helped him although I do still need to encourage him to use the book pal as he loves sitting there just looking at the books without it too. I was so impressed with the Scout book pal that I bought the Violet book pal for my daughter for when she starts to read too.Toddler Milestones LeapReader Junior Book Set:-The set features four books; Count Leap to Sleep, How are you Feeling, Things to do with Baby and Leap's New Potty. The books are like the others in the range in that they are thick paged board book style books and so really good for little hands and will also (and has in our house already!) take some bashing about too. My one negative about the books are that they are are read and the characters voices are all in an American accent and it would have been nice for Leapfrog to have re-done them with British accents for the UK market in my opinion. The Count Leap to Sleep book is all about the frog Leap getting ready for bed and actually teaches numbers alongside bedtime routine as each page has the numbers one to ten and an action alongside such as six is dimming each light so the house is not too bright. There are other interactive points alongside such as the stars in the background in the bedroom window sing different verses from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as the book progresses which I thought was a nice touch with the full song being sung at the end.The How are you Feeling book is all about emotions and that different ones are okay to have such as frustrated and angry along with happy and proud. There are also other interactive points in the background too such as the squirrel pulling tongues with sound effects in the background of the silly emotion page. The Things to do with Baby book is all about a new baby coming home and what your little one as a big brother or sister can do with them i.e. they aren't boring just because they are a little baby. It shows things like helping tuck her into bed, giving her a kiss on the head and making silly faces with them. I originally got this set for our son for our new baby daughter and his little sister but he has discovered all on his own that she is fun and she follows him around and idolises him but still it was a sweet little book. The Leap's New Potty book is all about as the name suggests potty training and along with the potty routine like washing your hands when you are finished there are also little extra interactive points such as Leaps Mum talking to him when you put the book pal on her or the sound of a toilet flushing etc.A really good little set of books dealing with some common toddler occurrences but would have been easier for my son to understand etc had they been done in British accents as sometimes he can't understand the American twang. The Book Pals:-The book pals are identical apart from the colours and one being called Violet and the other Scout. I love that you can personalise Violet and Scout so that when you turn them on and off they say your childs name as this makes it feel like they are actually talking to your little one and immediately you can see it encourages them to use Violet and Scout. The books are very easy to load and unload once you download the Leapfrog Connect to your computer and I have done this several times now (because of the small memory on both of the book pals). Both the Scout and Violet book pals come with a USB lead and to connect them to your computer you remove the battery cover which is where both the batteries are stored and the USB connection is. You don't need a screwdriver to open them either as you can open them with a 1p coin just as well. Scout and Violet are very easy to hold for little hands and along with their main power button they also have a volume button too. Scout and Violet are the same size and both measure approx 10cm high by 6cm wide and 6cm deep at their tummy which is their widest point and they have been very cleverly designed to fit into your little ones hand. Your little one doesn't need to swipe them across any writing for them to read it and they just need to tap or touch the writing and both will read the whole paragraph or sentence. The LeapReader Junior book pals and books are a really good introduction to reading for your little one and I would definitely recommend them if you are thinking about them. I have managed to get most of the range at less than the normal full price by keeping an eye out for price drops on Amazon and with it being quite a big range it certainly is worth keeping tabs and taking advantage of price drops when they happen.

Great quality. As advertised. Would buy more
Lovely set of books to use with the leap reader. My daughter is a bit too young to grasp the concept but looking forward to getting into them

Ok but dull to be honest. Don't interest my 3 year old at all

good product, disappointed father
There's only a limited number of books the reader can learn before it gets too full to register any more so if you buy separate books too, it won't be able to fit on the reader due to its limited memory. It would be far more useful If the reader itself could take s.d cards. It would cost about the same to manufacture and our children would get so much more enjoyment from it.

Great reading fun for little ones, needs more storage on the LeapReader devices though
Good value on a deal, and great fun for my son to 'read' (he looks at the pictures and turns the pages if I'm honest, because he's only little). The LeapReader Junior was easy to connect to my laptop and after I created a LeapFrog account it was simple to download the audio for the books onto the device. We have several more books for the LeapReader, the only issue I have is that it doesn't have much memory, so I can only store the audio for about 5 books on the device. I have about 10 books though, so I have to keep removing some and adding others. It'd be great if there was enough memory to store the audio for them all. 4 stars, which would have been 5 if not for the storage issue.Tars

she was happily using the Leap Reader Jr
My daughter loves these books. At 18 months, she was happily using the Leap Reader Jr. on her own to interact with the books, and six months later, she still enjoys them. I picked out these books specifically because they don't rely on licensed characters (i.e: Disney, Sesame Street). They contain some songs that may become "ear worms" (we sing Leap's potty song in conjunction with our daughter's potty learning). It's awesome to hear a pre-two-year-old articulating emotions like anger, frustration and silliness. All four of the books in this set plus one book other can fit onto the Leapreader Jr.'s tiny (way too tiny) memory. This offers great variety, as with the other books, we have, only two will fit onto the device at a time.

Cannot be used with LeapReader
I really like the book but unfortunately they cannot be used with the LeapReader. I returned it and no problem with Amazon. The title/product description is misleading.
