Swan calamine lotion has the following ingredients- Active Ingredients-calamine 8% zinc oxide 8%, Inactive Ingredients- bentonite magma, calcium hydroxide, glycerin, purified water.

Does it sting after applying it on your skin?

It doesn’t sting at all, I don’t think I would apply it to broken skin. This lotion is a tried and true remedy for itchy bites, and has a drying effect on ivy rashes. It’s a little messy and it’s looks funny on your skin, but it works.

I do not see any phenol in the ingredients.

What is the expected shelf life of this product? I don’t expect to use it often.

I don’t know exactly, but if you shake it well before using you should be fine. When I use it daily, I use the thick concentrate in the bottom of the bottle.
