What is the dropout voltage? If the input is 13.6v will the charger still charge to a full battery?

Hi. The dropout voltage between the solar panel and the controller is about 0.5V-0.7V. If the input voltage is 13.6V, then it will not charge. It will charge if the input voltage is at least 15V or more.

Can I use an 18 volt solar panel to charge a 12 volt battery with this controller?

I was successful all summer using this controller with a solar panel which varied from 18V to 13V during the day. A few times I metered the output of the controller, seeing a regulated 12 v.

The description says it works with a lithium battery. How do I set the charger to “lithium”?

Hi, you need an extra wire to connect controller and battery (like alligator clips).

I use this on our utv to help keep the batteries charged when offloading. I installed two low amp solar panels on the utv and needed to control the charging. This controller works as designed and keeps the batteries on a slow charge as if using a battery float maintainer that uses 110v home voltage.
