Excellent product. I'm now a fan.
I will preface by saying this is my very first time using Otterbox. I've used about 5 different Zizo cases and several of the $20-30 level cases. It seems to me that a lot of people are giving this product a bad review purely based on the fact that it doesn't come with a screen protector, which is unfortunate. This is a review I genuinely wanted to write so if you want a view of the product from someone who came into it without any expectations of what it "supposed" to be then keep reading and I hope it will be helpful to you.As the namesake I'm sure almost everyone has heard of or seen somewhere it indeed screams premium. While I do not want to take away anything from Zizo cases because they are well made and have saved many of my phones from certain doom, just taking this out of the box and seeing the design of it and feeling it in your hand inspires confidence and I can instantly see and feel a higher quality. I almost feel as though I could throw my phone at the ground and have it come out without a scratch (in all fairness though, I won't be trying that with a $1000 phone). Seriously though, I have a lot of confidence in this case. The plastic inside part has an interesting design compared to others I've used. Instead of just snapping together and popping apart there are actually tabs that hold it together. Just seems more consistent and well thought out of a design. The rubber part of the case is a very dense rubber. It feels solid and heavy. There are to stripes running down the outer edges of the back. These are very grippy in the palm. The rest of the case is not as textured but still has some grip. I've put my phone with this case on the dash of my car and while I wouldn't risk drifting around and having it stay in one spot, it does seems to stay for me for normal everyday (sane-ish) driving.Just a few other things I wanted to point out. In my experience with the case I got there doesn't seem to be any crazy pressure being applied that would cause anything to crack or break. Also, the case is a bit loose in the holster. However, I have done some reasonable pulling and pressing on it and it does appear, at least in the one I got, that it would take appropriate force to separate the case from the holster. I can't see mine just falling out.And just to get the cat out of the bag. Yes this is an absurdly expensive case for an equally absurdly expensive phone. Should it come with at least a plastic wet application screen protector? Probably. But I would probably spend a bit extra to make sure I got the one I wanted after spending so much for a phone and a case anyways. Do you have to use the OtterBox brand tempered glass? Not at all. It is also expensive. If you don't like those or like the cost just buy another that suits you, there are plenty out there, you've already came this far.TL;DR (but still somewhat long)I was not paid to write this and I paid full amazon price for this case. I really love this thing. I am actually very happy with the way they made the whole screen open and not ruin one of the things that make this phone so cool. Thank you for having the guts to change it up and then stick by your design ideas. This case really makes me feel confident my expensive phone is well protected. I am an Otterbox fan now. I fully recommend this case, if the idea of paying the hefty price and also not getting a screen protector doesn't bother you because it was included in the past. I hope this was helpful to at least 1 person. One final thing. The case is very much a pain to get off. I have found that starting over the volume buttons makes it a bit easier. Not sure why but it seems easier to get started there then working your way around the case, I head to the bottom next I pre-loosen the port covers and solider on around. Also, while on that topic, the port covers were unusually hard to get opened as others have said. After getting them open about 5 or so times now it seems much easier. I don't know if I just got used to it or found a specific way to open but I believe after you open them a few times and get some of the stiffness out of them they get a little easier but I can't say for sure on that.

Good but not great
Strong and durable and keeps the dust out of the ports, but the covers make recharge difficult and it needs a screen protector.

Is it worth it? Maybe!
So difficult to evaluate this. I'm sure it's among the best cases for an expensive phone. I've dropped mine a couple of times. The last time, it cracked and chipped the carrier. I don't like the way the included carrier works. It connects to the phone with essentially, a very small tab. Then it's very loose when attached to belt or pants. My carrier broke to the point I couldn't use it any more. It's very sturdy, but it must have hit the exact worse way. It had the phone still attached, so there was weight in the fall. The falls have also taken its toll on the case itself. It has become just a little loose in surrounding the phone. I squeeze the phone and I can hear and feel it moving now. But that's what the case is supposed to do! It's supposed to absorb the shock and save the phone. The case quality is actually very good. the carrier is something I'd opt for another design. The value is what's difficult to place. It's a very good case. It's also expensive. Worth it? Maybe. I've put in a warranty claim. It's probably important for you to know. I've put in a claim before this and have received nothing! No response. I've put it in another warranty claim, so we'll see what happens now. There is a charge for your warranty claim. Not unreasonable, but I wonder if they should charge anything? We'll see if they ever come through with the warranty claim. it'a also important for you to know, I've had this case for over a year, so this didn't break easily. It does appear to have done what it was designed to do!!UPDATE I did receive the replacement. I've looked for confirmation of my first order and couldn't fine one. I wonder now, if Otterbox ever received my order. I may not have completed it??I was nervous about removing the existing Otterbox case. I could feel movement and knew something cracked. As any NOTE 8 owner knows, these phones have a lot of glass! Curved Glass along with a lot of glass. A couple of the drops were BIG drops onto concrete floors. Yep! It was broken. THE CASE SKELETON WAS CRACKED. NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER TO MY PHONE. THE NOTE 8 WAS WITHOUT DAMAGE. I was dreading what I might find. I guess it did it's job? With glass phones, I'm not sure what else I would want, other than Otterbox.

Good solid case
I've had this case for nearly a year now. I switch back and forth between this case and my other ones and like it a lot. As someone who has used Otterbox for many years and for many phones, I of course immediately purchased this case after getting my Note 8. I only have 2 issues with it. The first being what everyone else seems to complain about. The lack of a built in screen protector. I know a lot of people seem to believe the lack of built in screen protector is due to the unique shape of the Note 8's screen, however I have other cases for my Note 8 with built in screen protectors that work just fine, so I'm not sure why they felt the need to exclude it. The Defender series is known for their built in screen protectors and is specifically why I always get them for my phones. My other complaint is with the plastic snap on part of the case that goes on before the outer rubber part. Since this case has no built in screen protector, I've had to purchase a separate one to apply to my screen. The plastic part of this case is so snug that it pushes up against my screen protector, causing bubbles around the edge and worst case, causing it to peel away from my phone. The only way to avoid this is to spend an excessive amount of time snapping the plastic part on in a way where it evenly presses down on the whole screen. Not an easy task with such a big phone, and I often have to do it a few times to get it right. Aside from that, once I do manage to get the case on without disturbing my screen protector, it is a good solid case which my phone feels very protected in. It covers all the way around the phone and feels very comfortable in my hand. It has good grip on the back so I'm never worried about it slipping out of my hand. I would definitely trust this case in a drop.

Drop proof safety
Great, I drop my phone so often on the hardest surfaces. It's great for that, just won't work on a charger cradle. A small price for protection

Excellent as always from Otterbox
OK so this case is very, very expensive, so much so that I nearly used an offering from a cheaper competitor.I'm glad I didn't. As usual this is a very well built case with protection in all the right places, a very good fit and a piece of mind that an expensive investment will not be destroyed the first time it falls out of a pocket.I've always had a defender for previous phones and they've survived falls of up to 10m, proving these cases really do work.My only niggle is that there is no built in screen protection as with previous defender cases. Whilst I understand this is probably due to the difficult screen design, I would've thought Otterbox would have come up with something.Nevertheless if you have a note 8 and work outside most of the day like I do, this is the case for you.Fit : almost perfect, little movement round power keyProtection : again, almost perfect unless you were to drop directly onto the screenPrice : as with everything you get what you pay for
