Crescent Lufkin 1/4" x 6' Executive® Diameter Pocket Tape Measure | W606PD

As pictured and described. Perfect for carrying in your pocket. It has an additional 3.5" on the leading end allowing for an ample area to grab and hold it without covering the starting 0-line on either side. Likewise on the opposite side with pipe diameters measured in 100ths. I suppose for precision measuring and alignment of the pipe circumference. The large numbers on that side refer to the the pipe diameter it fits around. I'm not a pipe fitter, so I really don't understand what this pipe circumference measuring system is designed for. I purchased the tape measure simply to have a 6' tape to carry in my pocket for general measuring when a big 12, 16, or 25' tape isn't handy or necessary. Amazing how useful a small tape measure like this is for everyday general needs! ...and it's metal case won't break or crush like the plastic ones do when you lean on something! The perfect all-around measuring tape to carry in your pocket. Enjoy!

This thing is perfect in every way! We recently did a few small remodel projects in our home. It seemed like every time I went to the store to shop I needed a measuring tape! I started carrying one and was using it quite frequently, but it was so bulky. I looked around on Amazon and found this. It is a little bit pricey, but completely worth it. I tried another product, but it was so small that the tape didn’t really work and it was more like a novelty item. That is not the case with this tape at all! It is extremely effective and the tape does not get stuck when trying to pull it out or retract it. It is strong and high quality. I’ve had several people ask to use it when I’ve broken it out in the store. :) Great item to have. Highly recommend!

Well, many years ago, I started my career working for a company that manufactured large (6" diameter), high voltage (400kv, 2000 amp) power cables that were buried many feet underground, or laid in cable trays in tunnels. An essential part of our quality control tools was a diameter tape. We used it many times a day. Instead of graduations in inches (or millimeters), these diameter tape measures are graduated in units of circumference of circular (i.e., round) objects. Place the tape around the object to be measured, and what you read on the tape is the diameter of that object. I've been tying to find one of these for a number of years. I do some volunteer work at a local State Park, and more often than you you might expect come across an old rusted galvanized pipe (or even some of the newer black ABS pipe that someone's put a pitch fork through). We all look at it trying to guess whether it's a 1.5" or 2" diameter pipe. Some of my colleagues try to use regular tapes to measure the diameter, - good luck on that one. I hand them my diameter tape, they wrap around the pipe, et voila, they read the diameter directly off the tape. I've also used it for vent and duct pipes - I don't know about you, but I find it tough to measure a 14" or 16" duct pipe from the outside. This Lufkin tape is not as sturdy as the tapes I used several times a day many years ago, but for occasional use, it works well. I've "calibrated" it against pipes with known diameters, and its fine - as it should be with a device with a (Greek letter) pi * D multiplier. So OK for occasional use, at a reasonable price.

I opened the box and upon initial inspection I didn't realize that it was 2 sided, so when I saw the 10 digit increments I wanted to return this item, but once I flipped it over I realized it was in standard measurements also. This is durable, small and so very helpful and easy to keep in a purse due to it's size!!

Bought this for a recent survey I did and am so glad I bought this. Made data collection a breeze, no calculations necessary. A very fast easy way to see if you have a tree or sapling at DBH - or whatever you would measure the diameter of a tree for. I am glad that this diameter tape is now part of my delineation kit it won’t work for large trees, but where you’re debating sapling vs tree, it’s very handy. If you know you’re going to be dealing with large trees in a regular basis and need to measure them, there is forestry tape for that. This item is for smaller diameter trees.

Great for measuring pipe diameters. Tape is made of metal and is quite solid. My old tape got crushed between some heavy pipes. It still worked even though it was bent. Happy to replace it with this one.

Started to fall apart after 2 days requiring taping up to hold it together

Bought this to replace a worn out executive model (good sale price). I use this tape for HVAC layout and fabrication and have no complaints. The diameter side of this tape is graduated in hundredths of an inch, with tenths of an inch boldly marked. If you are not comfortable with decimal to fraction conversion in your head then I would recommend the other model (diameter side is graduated in 64ths of an inch).
